I do the razorblade thing also, and I make a huge pile of all the security stickers. I probably have stickers from over 150 dvd's in there. My gf thinks I am crazy, but what does she know .

Here is my routine: get dvd, enter into Profiler, upload, read back, open, and watch, although that last part sometimes takes me a little while .

I unwrap my DVDs and enter them into my databases as soon as I get home

Once per year - usually in the summer - I print out my list of DVDs and try to watch every single one of them. It's a way for me to weed out any impluse buys I may have made and to bond with older titles. As my collection grows it's getting more difficult to get through them all so that tradition might have to go

I also cut along the edges and pull from there, but I use a small pair of surgical scissors that I have, rather than a razor. And I also make a bundle of the plastic and wrap the discarded security stickers around it to make it a one-piece trash item.

We haven't covered it here (we did once before), but I also usually spin the disc so that it's "right side up" on the hub before I put it up.

Being anal is in my blood, I'm afraid.

Actually, I said that on the last page . . .

. . . I spin the discs so that they are right side up in the case. I do it after I watch them, too, and with CD's, as well.
Glad to know that I'm not the only one.

Here's my tale on how geeky I am...

...I smell my DVDs when I get done watching them!!!

No kidding, there's something about the scent of a disc that has been spinning and slightly heated for two hours that I like.

I inspect them ultra carefully before picking up the right sealed copy.I make sure the art-cover is centered and aligned with the plastic sleeve and make sure NONE of it is sticking to the Bar code sticker on top or the Warning Security Sticker on the bottom.

Glad to know that there really are people out there just like me. I normally open it up right in the car. Then when I get home I watch the whole feature, and normally explore the extra featres later on on a rainy day. My one really weird and big thing though is that I love the smell inside the dvd case when they have just been opened. Does anyone else notice that?
