Antz DVD question

I have some questions about the differences between the 2 current versions of the Antz DVD. I posted this on an old thread in the DVD clubs forum a week ago but never got a response, so I'll post it here - it belongs here more anyway. Here's the thread:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=269233

So, is the only difference between the current versions of the Signature Collection version and DTS version of Antz that the Signature Collection just has DD sound and a bunch of extras (according to amazon.com, these extras are: *Commentary by directors Tim Johnson (V) and Eric Darnell, *Production notes
*Theatrical trailer(s), *Behind-the-scenes featurette, *A director's inside look at the basics of CGI animation and the early design process), and the DTS version has full bitrate (1509kbps) DTS sound as well as DD sound, but no extras? Is the video the same quality (same bitrate, etc.)? Also, on another old thread about this DVD (http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...highlight=antz) 1 person said the extras weren't that good -- any other opinions on this?

I would like to add the DTS version is single-layer, while the non-DTS version is dual-layer. I have both versions (weird story, I'll tell it sometime but not now).

Is the layer change significant? Since you have both DVDs, it would be greatly appreciated if you could answer these questions:

1. How does the video quality compare between the two releases? Is it the same bitrate?

2. How good are the extras on the signature collection version?

3. Which version do you prefer? Why?

So these are separate UPCs? I was afraid they had just replaced one with the other...

Also, do all signature collections still have the WTC on the cover? Personally, I think the new version (DTS?) is craptacular...

up --- surely someone can answer this

yeah they're separate releases, just check amazon or wherever - the dts version has dts but nothing else, the signature collection has no dts but several extras, as listed above. i don't know about the cover - on one of the threads there's a picture of a really bad replacement cover, but maybe since then they've restored the original cover - I'm not sure.

I read there was a DTS with extras. I don't remember where though.

My Antz dvd that I got from CH Dvd Club last Spring is this...

-single layer
-DTS & Dolby Surround (not 5.1)
-1.85:1 (anamorphic)
I put the dvd in theplayer and there are some production notes that you can read through and a couple of short bios on the 2 directors that you can read through as well.
There are also some production notes to read in the chapter insert (not sure if they're repeats from the notes on the dvd or not).

I'm not exactly sure what Dreamworks did to their animated dvds, but they did change them. At first I thought it was just the cover-art, BUT... I was at Target several months ago just browsing through the dvds, and noticed that the new version of Shrek (1 disc) had no dts, and Chicken Run only had dts 5.1, not dts-es like the version I own. I also own Prince Of Egypt and Road To El Dorado (newer cover-art, and my antz is the newer cover-art as well btw), but I don't know what changes they may have done to those 2. The only other one I don't own is Joseph King Of Dreams.
