Will There Be a Lord of the Ring Trilogy Pack?

I'm wondering if there will be a massive 12-15 disc trilogy boxset released one year from now after RoTK is out on DVD. Is this even plausible? I'm new to DVD collecting so I've no idea, but I"m sure you long time collectors may know. I can live to wait another year for the complete set as I'm not really jonsing for it right now.

Speculations please...

Who knows?

What would be the point? The EE editions that have been and will be released contain alot of material? I am not sure what would be gained by releasing a larger package. Certainly not next year as RoTK would still need to be released.

If it is released as box set down the road, it won't contain anything that hasn't already been released. I am pretty sure Jackson has been quoted as saying that the EE's are his final product for each film.

what would they put in the boxset....bits of the film print.....

I dont understand how everybody complains about double-dipping yet posts like this one make me think that the studios actually might be reading some of this threads....what would be the point of a boxset......just a new box that says..."LOTR trilogy"

I'm not cramming for more material, but less infact. I'm looking for a neatly packaged boxset possibly with all the EE versions in one. Retail for say, 80-100$?

The EE come in 4s, so atmost 12disc package. That's one thick sucka!

It wouldn't surprise me if they eventually packed the current DVDs in trilogy sets later. Probably 1 w/ the theatrical releases and another w/ the EE releases. It's such an easy thing to do (just design two new boxes) that I can't imagine them not doing it.

It'd be cool if made a heavy duty box that you could slide all the EE into. Make it an online offer or something.

I think it was already ruled out. Probably when HD-DVD is out...

I'm sure if enough people asked Paul he'd do it (assuming of course he could work out the permission/legal problems that may arise)

Peter Jackson has said that this will not happen.

Bundling the TEs and EEs together makes sense, and they may throw in some trinket like the EE gift sets, but I don't think the DVDs will see any major overhauls.

When it comes time for the HD DVD's, it's possible they will only be available as a set like Indiana Jones and BTTF.

What more COULD they put on new releases? Between the theatrical and extended cuts, each film has three DVDs of bonus material.

word is that there are even more deleted scenes that weren't included in the EE cuts of the film.

My thoughts exactly . . . my question is, can he do one to include the 3 EE cases, plus the extra discs that you get when you purchase the gift sets?

I don't think the original poster meant a new release... but buying all 3 existing EEs in a single box that may save the customer on pricing. Like $30 each or the set for $80.

I'm pretty sure Peter Jackson has been quoted as saying that any future box set would just be the 3 EE editions in a box. He also said that the box would be sold separately for those who already purchased the EE editions.

Well,

I am very happy with this idea http://www.rixgrafix.com/index_003.htm and now the only thing I have to do is wait for the coming releases. (Platinum and Extended Editions)

Enjoy!
