touting the direct from digital transfer...were you impressed with the picture? I must say its the clearest Pixar dvd I've watched....Bug's Life looked kinda grainy compared to this...Nemo almost looks HD-ish to me.

Anyone else notice big glowing orange halos around Marlin and Nemo at certain points? You can also see them around Marlin and Nemo's mom, at the beginning. They look really digital to me, and I don't remember seeing them in the theater. They aren't edge-enhancement halos, but they seem as if they've been added for some kind of underwater "glow" effect.

Finding Nemo is by far the best CG movie I own for my HT. Using a 110" screen can bring out the good and bad qualities of a movie, and this movie is all good qualities. What blew me away the most were the scales on the fish. Subtle things like that make me want more Pixar movies that continue to shine

Damn Steebo...my 110-150" screen is still years away...once I get into my next house. I wish I knew someone with a set up like that...I'm dying to see what movies look like on that size of screen.

It was like being underwater (I'm a Scuba diver). Pixar's attention to detail was wonderful (like the strap on the back of the Scuba mask)
It made me want to plan another Scuba trip soon.

Other than that, overall the movie looks very good.

I saw them in a few scenes too, and it reminded me of the asteroid scene in The Empire Strikes Back where you can plainly see the boxes around the TIE fighters.

Not only that, but there looked like there was some pixelation when the grouper[?] fish would spiral in a circle. There was another spot on one of the menu screens..

I noticed some graininess/murkiness in a few places (not the intentional murky water stuff). I'm going to check it out in my pc to make sure it's really there. For the most part I thought it looked good on my 57 inch widescreen set.
The sound is where it really seperates itself. The bass in particular goes well into the subsonics. Anyone with a really good subwoofer that can put out good spl's at 20hz and lower is in for a treat. The best spot is when Darla is banging on the aquarium.

I noticed the glows too, and occasional banding of color, such as around the base of the anemone. I put it down to equipment; perhaps my TV does not have high enough resolution? Could that be?

This has already been mentioned a couple times... but the thing I love about Pixar movies are the attention to details. I really really appreciate the amount of work the artists put into all their releases.

If you watch the extras, you'll know that the glow IS intentional - it's part of how they decided to depict fish in bodies of water, based on their observations. They took liberties with the depiction of fish, obviously, but the glow effect is part of their research and part of the visual style they hoped to attain.

better than Monsters Inc, which was more detailed with fur and stuff, but the fish just looked more crisp!
