Marx Brothers------help!!

I've seen "The Marx Brothers Collection," a 5 disc set, advertised at many sites, such as Deep Discount DVD, Amazon.com, etc. The problem is that this release, available later this month, does not appear to have any available details!

Does anyone know what is due to appear in this set? If so, PLEASE clue me in! Many thanks!!

Welcome, but this is the wrong forum for the question.

mubtoons,

I've recently read that there will be a DVD box set in spring of 2004, featuring remastered versions of all of The Marx Brothers' MGM films, plus Room Service and A Night In Casablanca. Now the MGM films include:

A Night at the Opera
A Day at the Races
At the Circus
Go West
The Big Store

Some of their better know movies Monkey Business, Duck Soup, Horse Feather, Coconuts, Animal Crackers are not owned by MGM.

This may not be the set advertised, but is still cool to look forward to.

Great news if this pans out, although some of the MGM Marx films are hardly better than the best Abbott and Costello films- which is to say, they're not very good at all.

Still, as Sartre was fond of saying, "a Marx in decline is better than an Abbott in ascension or a Costello in climb".

Just curious where you read this at, since this is the first I've heard of it?

I would assume this would be from Warner Bros if true as they currently own all these movies .
A Night at the Opera and A Day At the Races are the cream of this crop. At The Circus is OK. Room Service, Go West and The Big Store less so. A Night In Casablanca is pretty bad. My opinion only.

release pushed back

The release has been pushed back to December 9th.

Don't suppose that anyone has any information, such as whether or not this is even a movie collection?

It's not. It's a collection of clips of the Marx Brothers on television or in rare appearances. Mainly public domain stuff.

The same company released something similiar to this a while ago, with only one disc.

I'm still eagerly waiting for the movies on DVD.

Then does anyone know from whence I could obtain my very own, brand new, Region 2, 4-disc Marx Brothers Box Set? I reside in the States.

region-specific shipping?

Will Blackstar.co.uk ship a DVD outside of its region? I have not had any luck with Amazon.* in the past. Thanks...

The region 2 UK set is about 3 Pounds cheaper at Bensonsworld ($27.95 BP), and their shipping to the U.S. is very reasonable.

If it's your first order from them, they might send an email confirming that you have an all-region player.
