Almost Famous layer change?

Hello, I sold Almost Famous Bootleg Edition on Half after never watching it. It was mint with no scratches. I recieved the follwing email today from Half.

Comment/Question: Hi. I finally got around to watching almost famous last weekend, & it skipped in two places (after I cleaned it). How can we remedy this? Refund? I want to be fair. Most of it is good (at least on the first disc), so how about a partial refund of $10?

Is this possibly the layer change?
I know its not from scratches so it's either the layer change/defective disc/player defect.

Also, should I do the partial refund? or ask for it to be returned?
Thank for your responses.
Kurt

Tell him you'll refund his purchase price but not his shipping and he'll have to pay to ship it back to you. Explain your reason for doing so is bcause you beleive the disk is in perfect condition. Also explain layer changes to him, and that he might want to try a different player before following through on a refund. If he doesnt' agree to those terms i'd tell him sorry. His mentioning of a partial refund makes me think he's just looking for a discount after the fact. If he truly is dissatisfied with the disk he'll be okay with the shipping it back and losing his original shipping. Try it, you'll see.

Well, you never watched it so it is possible the disc is defective and you didn't know it.

I get people like that. I just tell them I'll gladly refund what they payed if they return the disc. Many times (not always) its just someone trying to scam some money back. From his tone thats what it sounds like.

I don't know why he cleaned it- it was mint!
I took everyones advice and emailed him and told him to try it on another player and told him what a layer change was. If it isn't a layer change I told him I would refund purchase price when he returned it. Thanks for all your imput- I'll update when I hear more!
