Sopranos Season 4 grainy picture??

Is it just me or is Sopranos Season 4's picture quality really grainy? I haven't popped in Seasons 1-3 to compare but I don't remember them being this grainy.

It's no LOTR EE but it's not bad. I think I know what you are talking about. All seasons look the same though.

Just finished viewing and did not feel it was grainy. I do believe Season 4 was pretty lame overall compared to the other three seasons. Have not seen Season 5 since I do not have HBO....is Season 5 worth my time once released?

I know! That's what I'm saying!

And about Season 4, I thought it was great that Chase focused on his family and Carmella. I mean, it had to come to a head at some point. She can only take so much. The final episode was some of the best "TV" I've ever seen. Just amazing performances all around.

Season Five has not even completed shooting yet. It is anticipated that it may air beginning in March 2004.

aggreed. even though, this season was a little slow, there were still tons of payoffs.
I wonder how they are going to do season five (ending of season 4 spoiled)
Spoiler:
with Tony and Carmella divorced and him moved out of the house. it just imo wouldn't seem or feel right.

This is the first Sopranos set I've watched on my new RPTV (which has been professionally calibrated), and I was surprised that while it did look more film like, it was noticeably darker than I remember on broadcast. But I would not describe it as grainy. I pulled out my season 3 set for comparison and found the quality to be about the same. I used Dr. Melfi's office as one of my comparisons, and both had about the same brightness and sharpness.

i believe you. i borrowed my friend's copies of Sex and the City Seasons 1-3, and they were the grainiest transfers i've ever seen. i think regular broadcast picture was cleaner than what i saw. perhaps HBO trying to cram too many episodes onto each disc has something to do with the crummy transfers?? i'm surprised nobody else has mentioned this earlier. oh well.
