Gilligan's Island: Season 1 - Release Date and Specs!

From TVShowsOnDVD.com:
Almost two months ago we first informed you that Gilligan's Island was heading to DVD. Now Warner has announced the full details for this long-awaited release.

After a three-hour pleasure tour, the S.S. Minnow was washed ashore on an uncharted South Pacific island, leaving behind what would become TV's most famous castaways. Now join Gilligan, the Skipper too, and the rest for a 3 DVD tour of The Complete First Season. 916 minutes of black-and-white hilarity will be found over by the lagoon, and that's not all! The rare Pilot Episode is here, complete with commentary by creator Sherwood Schrwartz. Tropical Tidbits trivia, the Gilligan's Island Survival Guide, and a "Before The Three-Hour Tour" featurette round out the supplements.

As you can see from the shot of the cover art below (which Warner tells us is not necessarily final, and subject to change), the list price is $39.98. The boat leaves the dock on this set on February 3, 2004.

Well, I was hoping for some commentary from the surviving castaways - but that may not be all the supplements. But consider me eagerly awaiting the pre-orders to go up.

Feb 3rd? Damn! That's a long way away. . . .

I hope the B&W episodes won't be colorized, as they have been in the past.

Same here! In fact, I might go as far as to say it could potentially be a deal-breaker for me. I've probably seen every episode at least once and the dialogue... well, you know what I mean. So, it would be a real treat to listen to the cast

Don't expect any Tina Louise interviews/commentaries. She's been trying to distance herself from the show for years

I wouldnt say that it's a deal breaker for me - there still sounds like there'll be some good extras. And yeah, I've seen each episode 4 or 5 times each when I was a kid - but I'm a sucker for nostalga.

If you carefully read the posted specs for the discs it does say black and white. Anyway this sounds like another television box I will strongly consider purchasing. At least releasing more shows like Gilligan's Island give me hope that someday the Andy Griffith Show will be released in season sets.

I am incredibly excited about this release. In fact this is my most desired release (as well as Seinfeld). I couldn't believe to read it was finally being released. Yeah it was a silly show, but I love it. Now I can get rid of my VHS copies.

Good news folks - the pre-orders are going up, and the cheapest price seems to be about 25-27 bucks online. If I wasnt sold before, this would seal the deal.
