That is my favorite Spongebob episode, why the heck wouldn't they include it?
I still picked the set up since I never got the standalone releases and got the extra nice Costco price, but really.
Maybe it'll be on the second season release, on Felicity they put the (unaired) pilot on the second season box. Cross your tentacles!

Maybe I'm reaching here for an answer, but any chance it was excluded due to some unresolved music copyright issues with the Tiny Tim song used in that episode?
Still, to call it "The Complete First Season" but leave out the "first" episode is unforgiveable. (Incidentally, although it's actually the first episode, for some reason it was not the first one to air.) As a huge Spongebob fan, it pains me to say I'll be skipping this set as a result.

I think everyone needs to give Paramount a little more credit... I'm sure they left off the pilot episode for a reason... be it legal or otherwise. Too often fans seem to take an "all or nothing" approach when it comes to releases, but I think this set is far too good to pass up.

After looking at all the extra's they had on it... I was thinking maybe they are saving it for another season because they can use it as filler if there are not too many extras. Or it could be the "music" issue which can be a problem and has been in the past when it comes to TV coming to DVD. Such a shame really...

If there is anyone willing to pick one up for me at Costco, I will gladly pay you via PayPal for it. Please email me if you can help me out. Thanks in advance.

And anyway, if you were such a big Spongebob Fan, you would've picked it up just to show support. To pass up 40 episodes and a nice couple of extras for 18.49, you'd have to be insane.
It's the pilot episode. There are technicalities to calling things seasons. (but yeah, I'm still a little pissed)
Maybe if we make a big fuss Paramount will send everyone a one episode DVD of it.
