Is the new JFK 2-disc edition really new?

I've noticed that there's yet another "special" edition of my all-time favorite flick, JFK, coming out 11.11.03. I'm wondering if this 2-disc edition is going to really contain anything new at all, or is it just a repackaging of the 2-disc special edition that came out with the Oliver Stone Collection (also sold separately, I believe). I suspect that it's just a repackaging.

Sorry if there's already a thread on this somewhere. I tried to do a search, but the search engine here only allows for words at least 4 characters in length! Hence, it was impossible to search for the phrase "JFK!"

Anyone know the lowdown on this so-called "special edition?" Looking at the specs on Amazon.com, I think it's just a repackaging. But, the new packaging (not a snapper, with the second disc tucked away inside the fold) might be worth the purchase anyhow.

Thanks,

Aaron

from Digital Bits - 8/27/03 - 11:30 AM PDT:

Finally this morning, and speaking of Warner, the studio has sent word that they're planning on re-releasing Oliver Stone's JFK on 11/11 (MAP $19.95). This 2-disc JFK: Special Edition will include the film in anamorphic widescreen video with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio (the 205 minute cut). Also included will be the Beyond JFK feature-length documentary, 12 extended/deleted scenes and audio commentary with director Oliver Stone. We believe that this is basically the same disc as before, simply with the addition of the documentary.
i think i'll be picking this up and giving my dad my snapper version since he couldn't care less about the packaging.

I already got rid of my current copy in anticipation for the new one. I think it will worth it.

I don't plan on picking it up because I grabbed the single disc edition when it first came out, then I got rid of that when I picked up the Oliver Stone boxed set. I am very happy with the 2-disc edition in the boxed set so I will stick with that rather than buy the same movie for the third time only for a documentary.

This will be the third version of JFK I'll have. This would normally suck, except that I got the first free as part of a online "Buy $25 worth of DVD's, get one free from a select list" and that was the only worthy one on there. The second I got for Christmas. That means I'll gladly pay the money to get this edition, hopefully the definitive version until HD-DVD comes along.

I'm confused tho...

Won't this compromise the quality of the extras by adding the rather long documentary to the second disc?

Hopefully this new 2 disc set will have a 448kbps 5.1 track instead of the 384kbps on the set that is out now.

Any updates? I wouldn't find getting rid of my snapper case, but I could probably just as easily download a scan of the first 2-disc cover and but a case for them to go in.

The only new thing advertised is a new JFK Documentary. Not enough for me to upgrade.

This is coming out on Novermber 11?

Isn't that a "conspiracy" day of some stripe? There has to be some kind of numerology going on with that date.
