Beavis and Butthead DVD Question

Hi a friend of mine through work hooked me up with his buddy that has a B&B dvd set. I know there was some type of stink over this set, but I heard they were releasing it, but I don't know the in and outs about it. He said he'd sell it to me for $30, is this a good price? I knew someone on here would have to know. Thanks in advance.

If it's the history of BB+B, then yes it's a good deal.

Or even if it's the 6-Disc Time life set, it's a good deal. It might just be one of the 3-disc sets though. But that'd be the same price as you'd pay for it off the web site w/o shipping.

The History of is all hype just cuz it was pulled cuz they knew they'd be releasing dvd later on or something like that.

You can buy the 6 dvd set at time for like 59.99 or something.

ok...The History Of is all hype just BECAUSE it was pulled due to the fact that it was to be released later on by another distributor or something to that effect.

Better?

i thought it was pulled because of the copyright issue(s) of some of the historic footage used in the disc's menus. btw, that's a great set...get it if you can. no overlapping episodes to the Time Life series.

It's mostly true. The first set doesn't have any, the second set has a couple (maybe 3, not sure as I don't have them).

Overall, though, I think all sets are mostly just the cartoons (since rights would be virtually impossible), which is why they can fit so many on a disk.

Can someone tell me if any of the cartoons themselves are edited? I used to watch B&B when it aired and I seem to remember that MTV started editing some references to fire and stuff when some moronic parents blamed MTV and B&B because their moronic kids lit themselves on fire. [SIDENOTE]Natural selection - what a wonderful thing![/SIDENOTE]

Anyways, I am about to pick up some of the B&B sets and would love to know if they are in fact, the unedited versions (the shorts themselves - I know most of the music videos are absent).

I know the Time-Life discs are compilations of the other releases, so is there any reason to get the originals? Is there anything on those that are not on the TimeLife releases? I have just won History of B&B and want to get what I can, but I do not want to get all the original discs and the TimeLife ones if the TimeLife ones have everything the originals do.

I got History of B&B when it first came back and sold it on Ebay for $215. Seems to be going for $50.

Probably the first and only time in my life I sold something for a profit.

i got 9 beavis and butthead dvds. the reason the history was probley pulled is because it has beavis flicking a lighter in one episode and it was suppose to be edited.

There was an interview not too long ago with Mike Judge over at AICN. He mentioned offhand that the History of B&B was pulled because Viacom/Paramount hadn't obtained his release approval. He probably wanted to be more involved in the extras.

I was pretty surprised when I read that and there was no mention of it on any of the DVD sites.

lol. I remember they changed one episode and Beavis was sitting there going "Water! Water!" instead of fire fire. There were certain things I believe there were some things that were cut out of episodes that we will probably never see again(such as Beavis and Butt-Head sniffing the gas on Stuarts stove and blowing the house up. I only saw this episode uncut once or twice).

Some of my favorite parts of B&B episodes were the commentaries during the music videos.

it's a shame they cut those out....

I know what you mean. I was around 14 or so and used to watch these at my friend's house (my parents hated the show)...

I can not believe they edited some episodes because some stupid kids supposedly imitated the show. How ridiculous is that?? The same thing goes for the morons that kill themselves imitating Jackass. Again, natural selection at its best. I hate that the complete stupidity and lack of normal freakin brain function of a few kids causes a show to be edited. Can't blame MTV though. In a world where some dumba$$ wins a huge lawsuit against McDonald's because she spilled hot coffee on herself, some idiotic judge probably would have eventually made MTV pay the parents of some braindead kid who burned his house down.

Anyways, I too wish the music videos were intact. They were great! I am in the process of buying up everything officially released on DVD...then I will start looking elsewhere for the stuff that will never make it to DVD. I loved this show. I remember seeing the movie on opening night.

In this lobby...there is teepee??
