Although, not being much of a baseball fan myself, I probably would have picked a different analogy. Maybe Fort Knox?
Thanks! They do broadcast baseball here so I guess if I was a fan I would've known

I'd put myself at 2.5

My collection is in the hundreds though I don't do a lot of blind buys (three all together). I'm a grad student so there isn't a lot of money coming in which means I have to a be a little more selective.

I do have hons of TV on DVD and occassionally I live for new release Tuesdays though I don't think I'm quite at the Cooperstown mentality just yet.

I'd say i'm at level 2, however, I don't own hundreds of DVDs. I'm currently at around 80, and it usually increases 2-5 more each week, so I think it's pretty good for only avidly collecting for two months.

where's the poll ?? I'm certainly a level 3, but like someone else has already said, sometimes money limits me to being a 2.

Level 2 I'm not afraid to blind buy because I can always sell it on ebay later if I don't like it. I always get what I paid for it too.

I'm at level 3, desperately trying to get back to the good old days of level 2, when I had more money for food, clothing, shelter....

I own 1300 but do not fall into any of your categories. Over 90% of my collection is stuff I really like and plan to keep.

bingo. I plan to keep about 99% of mine(Kung Pow being evicted) and add about another 600 to 800, based on my "films needed" list. 2,000 will be my peak....well maybe.

I dont blind-buy. I research obscure titles...making my eyes wide open while shopping via on-line or store. I buy around 10 a week.

I have custom outer sleeves made for about 75% of my library.

I make my own booklets of info in place of weak or missing inserts.

nobody borrows any title from my library.

my library vault is it's own secured room....complete with electronic lock and rottweiler.

my level is....serious.

Level 1 here.
Being a college student, I don't have time to watch movies and have the budget to collect DVDs.

Me as well! Believe me though, I would be over a thousand DVD's if I had the money. I'll buy a ton of stuff not because Id just want to build up the collection, but I would want to see a bunch of stuff I've never seen before! I mean, it's amazing how all of us users are here, and how fanatical we can be about DVD's. With my collection boasting around 450 DVD's... all my friends all say one thing in common: From all the people they know, I have the biggest DVD collection they've ever seen. And I come to this board and just BAM! You all put me to shame, lmao

I'm more fanatical about films...regardless of the format. not much of a choice right now...dvd is it. I look at it as a film library more than a dvd collection. a historical record of my personal favs and essential haves from the world of film. it's far from being just a stack of discs.

Well said, dude. My DVD collection is my treasure mostly because I loved the movie.

Between level 2 and 1. I try to buy only what I like, but for some reason, I pick up a lot of junk that I would rather not brag about (SAVING SILVERMAN, BODY DOUBLE, FEMME FATALE and other low to middlebrow flicks).

Strictly Lvl 1 now. Was a Lvl 2.

I like my money and only buy movies I really really really love and know I'll watch it more than 2 times. I do the netflix thing (blockbuster in the past), and go from there. Impulsive buying is no an option when you know how to spend your money instead of wasting it on junk DVDs.

Level 2. I thoroughly research my "blind buys," so to speak. And, I'm trying to get rid of some dvds I can do without. The only true blind buy that ever occurred was when I asked my mom to go buy a dvd, and she came back with Flatliners. Yuckk.
