What "level" of DVD collector/buyer are you?

Not sure if this has been done...but let's give it a try. I figure people here are one of the following:

LEVEL 3: You buy every DVD you've ever wanted...even movies you didn't particulary like. You live for new release Tuesday's, ALWAYS upgrade for the best version and treat your collection like Cooperstown. You also have years worth of TV sets on DVD. Essentialy, thousands of DVDs are in your collection.

LEVEL 2: You own a good amount of DVDs, somewhere in the hundreds. You buy DVDs blind for the hell of it, just to build up your colelction. However, you are a little more picky about which movies you own.

LEVEL 1: You ONLY own your very favorite movies and are EXTREMELY picky with your choice of purchases. You keep your collection in the dozens. While you love DVDs, they aren't necessarily as important to you as Level 3 and 2 people.

I'm a LEVEL 3 with 1600+ but not to the degree of fanaticism / addiction that you're listing.

Closest to Level 2, but I don't buy blind just to build up my collection- I just love discovering new movies.

I'm somewhere around Level 2. My collection is in the hundreds, but I've never bought a dvd just for building up my collection.

I am a mix of all levels:

First of all, I am not going to buy something I know I don't like. The problem is there is so much that I like...

I will occasionally "blind buy" after reading reviews, or looking at the cover art and back cover, etc., but it will be something I am slightly interested in, whether because of genre, actor, director, etc.

I will upgrade, if there is a decent reason to upgrade, not just for more "bling!"

I am pretty behind on the TV sets that I want right now.

I am very protective of my DVDs, inspecting boxes for nicks, looking for security tape on the cover, shaking for loose discs, etc. I keep all the cardboard and papers that come with them, and usually the stickers on the front announcing a LE item inside, etc.

I have about 600 right now, but then I am out of work, so I can't build the collection that quickly...

Used to be 3, but as the deals died away and the # of "catalog titles" I wanted dwindled I dropped to 2. As it stands I have most everything I know I want, there are a few things I may be interested in but aren't important enough to buy outright so I pick them up as I find new deals or "found money"[1], but for the most part it's just waiting on the new stuff.

[1] Like the $5 you find tucked in a pocket, or a refund check from something...

I think of myself as level 0.5.

Level 0.5:
Your collection is mostly of titles from Wal-Mart's $5.88 bin. You rarely buy any DVD over $10. Instead of looking on the internet at sites selling DVDs at discount prices, you look at sites that offer FREE DVDs about their stuff (like vacations at theme parks, home entertainment systems you wouldn't buy at all, video game previews, or TV network's fall schedule sneak preview). You would not think "I will pre-order the Indiana Jones Trilogy DVD set at this site.", instead you would say "I will place a hold on the set at the local public library, if they ever get it. If its good, then I will buy it." You go get more DVDs at the library than you get at a store like Blockbuster. You really don't care if its widescreen, fullscreen, anamorphic, Dolby Digital 5.1, has audio commentaries/deleted scenes/bonus features/DVD-ROM content, or comes in a nice case! You don't care if you are not considered a DVD fanatic, you just simply like to watch stuff on TV.

And also that movie or show you like won't be on VHS.

2, but this part doesn't apply "You buy DVDs blind for the hell of it, just to build up your collection." I'm picky about my blind buys, and there's so much good stuff to buy, I feel no need to build up my collection. It's hard to find space for everything as it is.

I guess I am a Level 2, but that's based more on numbers than philosophy. Otherwise, I'd consider myself a Level 3 since I feel I have most every DVD I've every wanted, plus alot I'm not that crazy about.

Level 3 with out a doubt. I have seasons and seasons and seasons of cool TV DVD entertainment, movies that cover a whole wall, Christ, I think I'm ready to have my very own TV network. I'm thinking about canceling my cable again...whats the use?
The only reason I got it was so the kids can watch there cartoon network, but I have hundreds of DVDs for them also...

I might be a member of level 4... Its an elite special forces DVD level..

But to reveal that type of sensitive information would warent your removal from the system...

Level 2 . . . but I don't do blind buys to fill my collection . . . only if I think I'll like them. More interested in quality than quantity.

I behave like a number 3 but my money situation limits me to being a number 2 type person.
