It makes me wonder if all the QC problems they're having are the result of someone on the inside trying to devalue their worth. Maybe know we'll see some releases like the Frighteners special edition or Orgazmo. They might have been trying to avoid any spending where they weren't sure they'd make a lot of money back (like Scarface)

The #1 question is how will this effect Criterion's releationship with Universal?

I don't see how this relates to much to dvds.

I doubt GE will invest more on Quality Control for dvd's.

Well for one thing, NBC probably won't schedule L&O SVU reruns against another Dick Wolf/Universal show like L.A. Dragnet.

I thought NBC was part of the AOL Time Warner flock?
Or is it Microsoft?

hopefully they'll get their act together, and stop screwing up every big release they put out

i also hope they drop the silly edition names such as "Tricked Out" "Extended Party Edition" and "Double SEcret Probation"

General Electric owns NBC, but Microsoft partnered up with NBC for the news channel MSNBC. I have no idea what else NBC is affiliated with.

Does this mean NBC gets to show Universal films exclusively perhaps?
Is ABC the only national network to show Disney movies? (since Disney owns ABC)

This means nothing really.

AOL/TIME WARNER owns WB, New line and many more. Does this mean WB titles don't get snappers anymore when AOL waste them on free trail disc?

ABC is owned by Buena Vista who has the powerful disney title under it. many other sub sections are there below that. Disney does have that whole ABC disney movie titles.

Fox is owned by.. uh.. Fox.

Now the real trippy stuff. Buffy was filmed on fox studio lot but was shown on the WB and then UPN.

it's really strange to follow who owns who.

For the most part, this will just lead for more NBC tie in's with Universal. promo's like views of the park and a general partnership. I'm sure this has nothing to do with dvd's down the road because all the NBC shows wont be released by universal, they will be released by whichever studio cranks them out.

the point was that fox is pretty straight forward with all their market. Most people don't even realize Mirmax is owned by disney or even New Line is connected to AOL. If it's Newscorp owned You'll know it. Not to mention no one brought these issues up when Newscorp started eating away at Direct TV. will 20th century fox films be promoted more then other studio films on Direct TV? hmmmmmmmm

Was Universal having money problems-maybe the reason for a general lack of good DVD's(including more Universal Monsters)?NBC maybe the cash cow they need.

Universal was sold off because the french based owners of it Vivendi has been facing some troubled times. All this means is that there is a merger now between NBC (owned by GE) and Vivendi. Universal falls into this because it is owned by Vivendi. Universal will still be the same ol' place just with an added amount of newer higher management in a sense.
