Select "DVD Hacks" under the "OTHER" category on the left sidebar of the DVDRHelp.com site. Then type in your particular model of player in the search box. For instance, here's what the Panasonic RV31 brings up, but I didn't read through the info to find out if it's hackable:

Excellent, friend. :) Much thank you.

Against my better judgment, I picked this up a Wal-Mart today. (Something about buying The Texas Chainsaw Massacre at someplace as wholesome and family values as WM that appeals to me.)

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the disc. The transfer wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The image is a bit soft, and there was an occasional screatch or blemish on the film, but it didn't look too bad for a thirty year-old cheap-o 16mm production.

I also thought that the moon dissolve mentioned in the Digitalbits review looked okay. It was a slow dissolve from the exterior of the house to the moon, and the moon didn't just "pop" into the frame. So is this a new transfer?

It's not a new transfer, but it's the old transfer that was supposed to go on the old DVD but didn't.

So yes and no. It's the first time this particular transfer has seen disc, but it's nearly two years old.

I'm hoping that by the 40th anniversary they'll have a nice HD-DVD transfer out.

R2 print better/worse/same as new R1?

Thanks for the DVD hacks link! I didn't even think to search for a site like that.

Does anyone know if the R2 print is the same as the "new" R1 print? Better? Worse?

Thanks
