Is there a new Texas Chainsaw Massacre DVD coming out next week?

FYI, the dvd is in terrible packaging. it's in one of the old thin cases that you see budget releases in, and the slip cover is thin black plastic.

I have no interest in it, but I figure some would be interested in knowing about it.

well that saves me some money then.....I have no interest in buying the new release just for some gimmicky packaging that from the sounds of it, seems like it could be more a pain than its worth......I'll just keep the first release.

A Canadian-based music/video chain (although they certainly have stores in the U.S. too... at least in the Northeast).

nope, this is the R1 release. we got in in today, reminds me of the Universal Ultimate Edition packaging they did with American Pie, Meet Joe Black, and Notting Hill.

Is the new DVD anamorphic? I was just wondering since nobody has mentioned it.

Obviously you didn't read the first page of this thread:
-sigh-
Since no-one is bothering to read the links ABOUT THIS TOPIC WHICH HAS BEEN DISCUSSED BEFORE...

THE REGION ONE PIONEER RELEASES, EVEN THE NEW ONE WHICH THEY CLAIM IS REMASTERED AND NEW, ARE NOT ANAMORPHIC AND THE TRANSFER IS NOT VERY GOOD IN THE FIRST PLACE. THIS FILM DOES NOT EXIST IN A GOOD-LOOKING ANAMORPHIC RELEASE ANYWHERE. STUDIOS ARE, FOR SOME ODD REASON, RELUCTANT TO MAKE ANAMORPHIC RELEASES OF 1.66:1 FILMS. THE ONLY ANAMORPHIC RELEASE OF THIS FILM IS THE AUSTRALIAN PAL R4, WHICH LOOKS WORSE THAN THE NONANAMORPHIC VERSIONS!
Clear?

I was going to buy this DVD but I'm not sure if it's anamorphic, can anyone confirm if this new transfer is better than the old version?

the way I have heard the re-release is just a repackaging of the original pioneer disc just with a new cover.

The ground meat cover is the Limited SE

According to Pioneer's site (they're renaming themselves to Geneon), the one with the chopped meat on the cover is the Limited SE. The black and silver cover with the chainsaw ("Amaray Packaging", whatever that means), is what will continue as the standard release. But the content is exactly the same, I believe. I thought that I should get the limited one--simply because it's limited--but I think it doesn't leave much to the imagination to see ground meat on the cover. Plus it's a little gross.

What is the difference between these two versions, and the Pioneer version that I have?

The new one will be an anamorphic Superbit Divimax SE with 6.1 DTS. It has a new documentary which includes Gunner (as Leatherface) buying the chainsaws needed for the movie at Home Depot. He was running thru the aisles screaming and spinning, customers were freaking out.

Oh, my bad I thought it was going to be a limited edition anchor bay tin on top of all that..........and i heard in the documentary, we see a glimpse of a employee that bears a striking resemblance to ash.

The current Entertainment Weekly claims this is a better disc than the original release. They say it has cleaned up video and audio.
