This ain't that big a deal...fyi...i can think of 6 stores off the top of my head that break street date.
The reason i'm poking my nose in this thread is because you really shouldn't post the names of these stores. It tends to ruin it for the rest of us when you do such things. It's very KNOWN around NYC that these stores do it. Just don't advertise it.

Probably not, I mean there's a group of people who enjoy making fans of certain things feel tortured or angered for anything popular: Star Wars, Star Trek, Matrix, Limp Bizkit, all the best of examples of people who just love to get their fingers into saying things like 'i got this early!' just to piss people off, sometimes they don't really even have it and are lying. I've seen it happen quite a bit. These kinds of people need something better to do with their lives.
Family Guy Vol.2 actually came out earlier then the release date...why did I get it early...cuz I love Family Guy and wanted to watch it.
Movies I've never seen yet:
Star Wars Trilogy
Indiana Jones Trilogy
Gladiator
Saving Private Ryan

sarcasm. learn it, love it, live it.
the point is people like to buy things early because they want to be #1 on the scene. but when it's all said and done, there isn't anything under the sun that isn't owned by someone else or that hasn't been discovered. so buying a week early to show off to some friends means little when it's been around for months and not flashed in your face. get the point?

I love getting my DVDs but I don't ever need them before the release day. Some stores don't know enough and put them out when they get them. Other know it's early and they would rather get a jump start on selling them at a higher price. (25.00)
The second type of stores are the ones that should be fined and run into the ground.
I'll get my copy at midnight like I do with all the releases important to me. Until then I can resist that high price tag.

If the original poster said his co-worker got it, how could he be bragging that he got it early? Maybe - just maybe - he was giving a heads up to anyone interested? Bunch of ingrates!

I often post to say I have DVD's early (UK often get R1's up to 2 weeks before), but it's not for the purposes of bragging.
In truth, I do feel a sense of excitement when gettings films early, and the intention is to simply try and communicate some of that enthusiasm for those who may be eagerly awaiting the film.
This is particularly true when the release happens to be an exceptional one. It's good to be able to go on this site and recommend a really good DVD without reservation, especially if a lot of people out there may be sitting on the fence about whether to get it or not.
I try not to post negative comments - if I am dissapointed with a release I get early, I won't post at all. It's different if it's a fault, then sure I will post just to warn everyone. But giving negative opinions (and I see that a lot on this site) is unhelpful, and is usually done by those aforementioned individuals who take great delight in posting stuff like "I just got ...........early - and it sucks!!!".
After all, this is a dvd enthusiasts board, and it's all about passing on that enthusiasm to everyone on the board, right?
