Adaptation SE!?!?!
According to the review for the Work of Spike Jonze DVD, there is a trailer for an upcoming special edition of Adaptation. I'm kinda upset about this, since I just went out and bought the Superbit on release day under the assumption that nothing better was in the works. I hadn't even heard anything about this until I read the review.

I expected this. I mean it is from Columbia, so why should any of us be surprised? This doesn't bother me as much, though, because I expected to have to double-dip when I bought the dvd in the first place. I loved the film, and the sound and picture are excellent so I won't mind going in for a SE of the movie.

I figured this would happen but couldn't wait for this movie any longer. I'll double dip for the SE!! I just did it for Fargo. Well I guess the time span was a little different. But still...

If they do, I'm hoping they stay smart and don't put anything on that might go about "explaining" the film. A commentary seems like such a waste, ruining the charm of the picture.
Then again, are we sure this isn't really just a trailer for the existing edition?

Whoa. I'm glad I didn't finish picking out my CH DVDs, cuz this was on that list. I'm willing to wait it out as long as it comes along eventually (preferably within the next couple months or so). So, now all I need is Panic Room, and that's apparently also underway.

I'm glad I held off to. I saw it in the theater and liked it a lot, but it's not one of those movies you need to get on DVD right away or watch over and over again.

As soon as I saw the trailer on the Spike Jonze disc, I figured I'd mention it in the review. I was going to post a seperate note on the message boards, but ya beat me to it!
Sadly, no release date was mentioned...only "coming soon!"

Does anybody know what kind of content is going to be on this one? I actually for once did the smart thing and didn't buy the first one because I'd heard there might be an SE, and I'm eager. The new "Work of Spike Jonze" DVD has what it calls an "Adaptation SE trailer" but it's actually just the movie trailer with a little crawl at the end promising "bonus features" which kind of annoyed me -- I hope it'll be a great disc, this was one of my favorites of 2002.

I've watched this one several times and have loaned it to a bunch of people who have watched it several times. I've gotten my money's worth out of this one.
I'd probably double-dip if the extras were compelling enough. There was a lot of talk about the upcoming SE when the original was released (search is your friend) so I wouldn't feel ripped off.
There's a "Panic Room" SE coming up too... eventually. By the time the Adaptation SE is released it'll have been close to a year (considering it hasn't been even announced yet) that I'll have been enjoying the current release.

I'll wait to see what the extras are for Adaptation SE. If it's not great, I'll stick with my Superbit. I think this movie may actually be BETTER if nothing is explained.

Since Charlie Kauffman won't even acknowledge that his brother Donald is fictional, I doubt that there will be a whole lot explained in this one. We'll see.
