As much as I'm looking forward to the Two Towers set, I can't wait to see the Looney Tunes 4-disc collection.

Dont to be so sure, I am thinking if (big if) if the Alien 9-Disk set comes out, it should win best set. LOTR EE shoudl win for single best movie, but prelim reports of Alien Set have been, and look, amazing.

I'm not saying LotR won't win, but maybe Peter Jackson shouldn't bet his life savings on winning this prestigious award ...

If I had to go on probably favorite thing to watch :
Family Guy Volume 2-Season 3

If I had to by packaging:
Scarface collectors gift set

If I had to go by overall on the film and the content with it:
Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers Theatrical version

The Simpsons Season 3 deserves a close runner up to Family Guy Season 3, it was hard to choose. I really am partial to family guy though

Casablanca so far. I'll let you know when I get my copy of Scarface, Fargo and Sleeping Beauty in the next couple of weeks.

The 3rd Quarter was FANTASTIC! My picks:

1. Fassbinder's BRD Trilogy: The Marriage of Maria Braun/Lola/Veronika Voss (Criterion)
2. Warner Classics Collection: The Adventures of Robin Hood/Yankee Doodle Dandy/The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
3. A Film Trilogy by Ingmar Bergman: Through a Glass Darkly/Winter Light/The Silence (Criterion)
4. Casablanca: 60th Anniversary SE (Warner)
5. Fargo SE (MGM/UA)

I may very well have voted for these however as the release date was the very last day of what is effectively the 3rd Quarter and many people (myself included) haven't been able to assess the quality of the releases then surely these are better suited as candidates for the 4th Quarter?

Definitely it's:
Warner Legends
Fargo:SE
The Kids Are Alright
Monty Python and the Meaning of Life (disc issues notwithstanding)

Notice how they are all end of Quarter releases?

Casablanca gets my vote. It is the greatest film ever made and finally has the home video presentation it deserves.

Objectively, I'd have gone with something like SLEEPING BEAUTY or THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS but, dammit, every time I see that gorgeous, Robert Harris-approved restoration on the recent LAWRENCE OF ARABIA Superbit DVD, I wet myself...I never thought I'd hear myself say it but extras be damned, this disc is just too sexy!

If I can only pick one its Scarface but Casablanca is a very close second.

To my mind, voting for LOTR when you are really pretty sure that it won't even be the best LOTR DVD of the year ....... lacks.

In all fairness, though, it does say best DVD of 3rd Quarter...the Extended Edition will be released in 4th...your skills in logic may be, uh, lacking...

I'd say Scarface based on the upgraded transfer alone.

Family Guy and Fargo come close behind.

Casablanca: SE

Perfect movie, perfect a/v, perfect and plentiful supplements.

The Two Towers has flawless a/v and is a great movie, but the supplements are mostly fluff. I'd rather see the Extended Edition in the 4th quarter.... although, it has a lot of competition with the Looney Tunes box.

I was pretty psyched about Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life . . . that's my vote.

Glad to see people voting for Casablanca...I have most of the DVDs listed in the poll, and Casablanca was by far the most entertaining and had the most enjoyable features.
