Scarface box set availability?

Does anyone know how hard to find this will be on Tuesday? Best Buy is the only store that has it in their ad. Am I going to have to hunt for this thing? Hopefully most people will be buying the normal edition.

I would like to know aswell. I'm short on cash at the moment and really would rather have the hope to be able to pick it up after the bills are paid. any word if this is a limited numbered item? or will it be much like E.T. collectors edition?

My Best Buy store got in like 11 cases (boxes) with something like 5 in each. So we have about 55 on hand. A lot more than I would have expected. Maybe cuz it's in the ad and we don't like dealing with rainchecks for rappers. Not sure how many other Best Buy stores will be stocked, so YMMV, but Best Buy is probably the first place I'd look, if I were interested in the box.

He who works there says.... Hmm.

I Think the Best Buy flyer says "Minimum of 21 copies per store".
FYI - Transworld stores (Strawvberries, Coconuts, etc.) are advertising the gift set for $29.99, after a $20 rebate. I never buy from them usually, because their prices are so high, but a $20 rebate brings them lower than anyone else's price for this.

I wanted to get it at B&M, but with STL from Amazon, it was $37.11

Tower records has a flyer advertising this deluxe set for $39.99, so i'll probably be pricematching at Circuit City for the -10% discount.

Best Buy minimum is 20 per store, no rainchecks.

My store has 45 of them, but seeing as there are a lot of Scarface fans in the store, alot of them are eyeing the giftset.

I just noticed the "limited" number in the BB ad as well. I don't remember seeing anything previously that said there would only be so many released. Maybe it's just a ploy to make people buy it thinking that it won't be available next week or later on? Who knows...

Welp, according to their site ( http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...A50705%3A50715 ) They got it! But the question is, will your store have it?

Where did you get the flyer? Was it in the paper? Do you know if they have the flyer available at the store?

i happened along the flyer in the dentist's office, of all places. i don't normally get them in sunday's papers, but once in a while, it's in the weekday papers. afaik, tower stores don't give out flyers. i think you should be able to order it thru their website at that price.

IMO they will probably be as limited as the spiderman box sets. Stores may run out initially but will reorder in abundance to have them collect dust on their shelves.

jasonnaper,

Keep it, I'm pretty sure the documentary on the original disc is not on this version, I haven't read anything to say different, although don't quote me, I've missed details in the past.

I just called Tower Records and they were sold out because they started selling them midnight. They said they were taking rain checks and that they might be getting more in later today.

Box Sets Selling Quick...

Went to my local B&M this morning just before they opened. You would have thought there was a rap convention in town and p diddy & pacino was signing copies Scarface. I’ve never seen such a long line, even on a Tuesday where there were multiple big releases. When the store opened up it was like a stampede. People were going right for the box sets. All the box sets were gone by the time I got to the shelf. They were limiting box sets to one per customer. Luckily, my B&M purchased 200 box sets and had more in the back. They were frantically trying to restock the shelves as people were pulling them from the sales clerk’s hands. I grabbed a pristine copy along with a copy of Better Luck Tomorrow and headed right to the long line at the register.

As I said before, I expect the box sets to sell out initially but stores will over restock.

It was funny that there were two types of crowds going for the box set:

- fans of the 1932 version
- and the OOP victims and mainstream / “rap crowd” who had no idea that there was a 1932 version.

Now, when I get my Amazon copy, I'll return it to my B&M.

Well, I was working this morning, there was a line at 8:30.

Not even a minute after opening, all the sets were gone.

pros and cons about living in a dead city:

Cons--dont get many releases on time and so-so selection when browsing.

Pros--there is never a line or early sell-out for anything.

picked up the set at 10:30am today.....with about 50 boxes on the shelf and display stand. mine was only the 2nd sold!!!!! Woooo Hoooo!!!!
