Maybe the the commentary could be compiled from interviews.

Yeah, I'm sure everybody would like to hear what Mr. Welles has to say about Transformers. I mean, I'm sure everybody wants to hear what a sound editor manipulating Mr. Welles' voice has to say about Transformers. I can just imagine the ludicrous things being said. :)

Okay, so my turn now:

Fist of Legend SE
Anamorphic widescreen, 5.1 mix, original soundtrack and score
Commentary by Gordon Chan and Jet Li
Choreography featurette
Interviews... you know what, I couldn't give a rat's ass about this DVD if I could only by a DVD that wasn't dubbed in English... Um I just saw a nice CE from amazon.fr, so screw this DVD.

Okay, how about this one:

Donnie Yen/Yuen Woo-Ping SE Box set
You get, Drunken Tai-Chi, Mismatched Couples, Tiger Cage, In the Line of Duty 4, Tiger Cage 2, Heroes Among Heroes, Iron Monkey and Wing Chun, all the movies they've done together where Mr. Yuen was a director.
First thing's first: you get a commentary by both dudes on Mismatched Couples explaining what the hell was going through their minds. This track includes profuse apologizing.
You get commentaries by both on the other movies as well, featuring Simon Yam, Michael Wong, Cynthia Khan, Yu Rongguong and Michelle Yeoh on the movies they were in. All of them being group commentaries, of course. Hell, this is my fantasy, so a commentary by myself on each of them, also.
All DVDs have featurettes on the fight choreography, interviews with the stars, action choreographers, stunt people, what-have you, featurettes explaining the evolution of the Yen/Yuen relationship and how each movie reflects that evolution, featurettes on how each movie influenced HK cinema, outtakes and goofs and decent biographies and filmographies.
All of them are anamorphic widescreen, with 5.1 mixes. The sound on these movies kinda bite so DTS tracks aren't necessary.

So that's what I'd want. That or a friggin rerelease of The Killer CC! :D

I second The Game Criterion DVD and The Sting.

I wouldn't mind True Lies SE either with commentary by Arnold and James Cameron and some behind the scene documentries and a one on one interview with James Cameron.

Strange Days SE, audio commentary from the director and James Cameron and some other behind the scenes stuff.

Good calls on The Big Lebowski and American History X (for different reasons, of course!). I'd also like to suggest some sort of DVD collection for music group Radiohead. Music videos, a live concert...anything! The only DVD scraps we've gotten so far are the 7 Television Commercials and Meeting People is Easy discs, and they were practically VHS ports (although MPIE had an awesome DTS track!).

Axorr 02-23-04 11:51 PM

Split Second - SE

OAR
Dolby Digital
Better transfer than the VHS release

It's not like I feel that THAT's asking too much!! ;-)

Radiohead is easily the coolest band in the world.

The films of Kevin Smith with all the current features PLUS additional commentary track by PT Anderson and Tim Burton.

While we're at it, let's have commentary tracks by people who absolutely hated the film on ALL movies! Start with "Jackass: the Movie" with commentary by Roger Ebert...

I'm really into this idea. :)

I like this idea...as a matter of fact, I had a similar idea with the Fargo Special Edition. They already included the crappy full-screen version on Side B...if they would have only replaced the audio with the TV version, I'd definitely check that out!

Great suggestions regarding Batman. Hopefully, Warner Bros. will release something similar soon.

Rypro 525 02-25-04 11:55 AM

whats so great abotu the tv version. is it funnier that almost all of jason mews' lines are edited in. I'd like to see the original cut of the movie restored as a directors cut of malrats. (did Kevin like that cut but have to cut it all out due to poor test screening, or did he think it was crap also. not sure if i understood his words in the commentary.)
