My McRibs stay, unfortunately, on my McRibs.
Seriously, so far the discussion has focused on manipulated OOPs, designed to squeeze more cash out of the next iteration or release. What about Criterion OOPs? Is that just a matter of print runs and capacity? But that seems hard to believe, since reproducing digital disks can't be that hard??? or is it??? Or maybe they'd need several thousand in any given print run just to get the packaging down to cost???
I have no idea, but the recent flurry over the Tati films makes one wonder about why Criterion would go OOP on films (and what is Salo going for on Ebay, etc???)

Shoeshine OOP - Why?
Anyone know why De Sica's "Shoeshine" has gone OOP soon after being released on DVD by Image? Seems kinda strange to pull it out of distribution just a few months after releasing it.
