I looked at the Brazil edition, and though it looks good, they really really have to reconsider the shipping options. Way too expensive. I'll go with the zone 2 if the subs are removable. Otherwise, i'm not sure.... I guess I'll wait.

There are also separate "normal" English subs and English subs for the deaf and hearing impaired.
BTW: Some titles (that designate events) are in English. I saw the movie in a Dutch theater and I think it should be like that, but I'm not totally sure.....

I got the UK R2 "City of God" this week, and I'll add another vote that it's a great film. More testament to the fact that the war on drugs may never end. In that genre, I also really liked "The Company" from India, and the UK miniseries "Traffik", upon which the U.S. Traffic movie was based.
The UK R2 is anamorphic 1.85:1, and English subtitles are removable.
Also, it includes an excellent 57-minute documentary "News from a Personal War" that gives more insight into the real characters in the situation there. I hope that's included when they release the R1 version, for those who are waiting for that.

I watched the R2 version and thought it was a very good movie, but I was a little let down with the film. Although worthy of great honor, it was not my favorite foreign film last year. I actually enjoyed another Brazilian movie, "Central Station" more.
