Serpent & the Rainbow/They Live question.

I already have the old Image discs of these two titles, which are being released again today (but by Universal). As far as I can tell - the Image and Universal releases are pretty much Identical - bare bones, widescreen 16x9 and Dolby Surround.

So is there any reason to pick up the new releases of these two movies if I already have the Image versions? The only reason I can think of is if they have a new, better transfer - but as best I can remember the Image discs looked pretty good (haven't watched them in a while). Is there anything about the new discs to justify repurchasing these two titles?

I use to have all the Image titles myself. I believe they are the same disc except for new menu's and a keep case.

I decided to sell all of them on ebay when the announcement was first made. I had They Live, Prince of Darkness, Demon Knight, Serpent and the Rainbow, and Bordello of blood. The lowest price I had to let one go for was $30. I got almost $50 each for the rest. So I made nearly $200 for all of them. Thats enough for me to replace all of them, plus have money left over. I already bought Godfather box set.

Im glad to replace these disc for those two reasons, besides making some cash. The old Image releases were already showing wear, snappers, and the menu's were as basic a DVD menu could be. When I popped in each disc, it would only bring up a chapter selection and that was it. I also believe there may be a trailer or two, but still stripped down to the bone.

I take that back, as of Sept 9, Amazon was saying October 7, but today they say They Live is available now. (Didn't check the other one.)

They Live came out today. It was moved up from Oct. 7 a while ago. I saw it at Walmart over the weekend (breaking street obviously).

The site has not been updated to reflect the ~now~ October 7th date. I called Best Buy and confirmed this.

I was getting excited about an earlier release! I had preordered from DDD two months ago and my order shows today as a release date, yet is backordered.

Also, I've called Blockbuster, Circuit City, Saturday Matinee and they all confirmed the street date is now October 7th. I was in hopes that I could get a copy early as darkflounder did from one of 4 Wal-Mart stores in my area. None had it though.

Two BB, Fry's, Target, Twp Wal Marts, and CC did not get They Live today in my area... I called and went to a few and no one got it. Not even Borders got it today.

Just went ahead and ordered it at DDD along w/ Prince of Darkness and Vampires which are all scheduled for Oct 7th.
