Office Space Special Edition?

I've heard mention of an Office space special edition in the future (see http://www.dvdangle.com/articles/se_list.html), but I've never heard any specifics or an anticipated release date. Anyone know anything about this?

"If nobody tells me the release date, that's the last straw . . . I'll set fire to the building . . . I'll put strychnine in the guacamole . . ." (That's at least what I think Milton would say     )

No dates have been set for this release yet.

But let's hope that something happens in the near future.

There have been legal troubles with the SE. The Fox rep said the sequel would be released before the SE dvd. I finally caved and bought the current dvd since the new one won't be happening anytime soon.

I think that Mike Judge is holding it up. He wasn't happy with the way that the movie was marketed when it was release, and he is holding out for a great deal before he okays the SE...

i cant believe theyd pull a sequel (theatrical??) before theyd put this out on an SE, this movie has plenty of behind-the-scenes/interview potential. i know this should be in the movie forum, but i dont think i could bring myself to watch a sequel of this genre, theyre usually a killer for reputation (ex. dumb and dumberer) . cant wait for the SE though

Entertainment Weekly did a story about the film. Apparently Mike Judge is willing to do one if Fox paid him. But Fox wants to do it without him so he won't let them have certain extras and such.

Willy,

I think the rep was trying to imply that it would be a cold day in hell before we would see either, not that there was a possible sequel in the works.

Ahh the monthy, what about an Office Space: SE, thread.

Welcome, Talemyn. As you can tell from my line above, there have been numerous threads about this topic. The search button is your friend.

I think Mike Judge is trying to reneg on his deal. 20th Century Fox got the movie for a good deal from him. Now that it has become a cult classic and sold many a dvd, he wants more money. They won't pay him, so he won't provide any special features, commentary, what not. I believe that is the gist of the story. Anyone else?

According to IMDB :

After the movie became a cult item, Mike Judge was offered a chance to make a sequel called "Office Space 2: Still Renting". But Judge said that he had been through enough anguish over the first one that he didn't want to put himself through the experience again.

So sorry, Michael . . . I swear I tried the search first, but didn't get anything back, which suprised me. Maybe I mis-typed.

Bad, talemyn, bad, bad, bad . . . practice your searches . . .

Please forgive me . . . <grovel, grovel, grovel>

On the plus side, there seems to be some good conversation going on about it . . .

There was mention a few weeks ago that Judge had signed a new deal with Fox to make some more movies. I took it as a sign that we may see an eventual SE DVD.

Search MovieTalk, should be there.

Only found two bits of info on this so far during my searches today:

Good News (for UK users at least): It looks like Office Space is finally being released in the UK on Sept. 29th (http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/...030990,00.html) and
Bad news: It is getting to look less and less like an SE of Office space is in the future according to CHUD.com (http://www.chud.com/news/may03/may16os2.php3)
An excerpt from the second article (keep in mind, this is from 5.16.03, so it's not necessarily fresh):
First up, about the possibility of an Office Space Special Edition (which we have heard much in the last year): Don't hold your breath. Director Mike Judge won't sign on because "the studio wants to stiff him on a deal." If we were to see such a Special Edition (extra unlikely because in the article Judge reveals he kind of hates the movie and can't watch it), expect to see the original Milton shorts from Saturday Night Live that started it all.
But I'm not giving up . . . I'll continue the search . . .

The thing that bothers me most about Office Space threads is people begin quoting it unmercifully. That having been said I would buy an Office Space SE but I doubt it will happen ever.

Thank you SO MUCH, purple . . . I was trying to think of an appropriate response and was drawing a complete blank. Exquisitely done!

Office Space 2? I want Beavis & Butthead 2. Mike Judge needs to do more with what made him famous in the first place.
