What's up with the Lethal Weapon boxed sets?

Does anybody know what is going on with the Lethal Weapon movies? The two boxed set options are:

Lethal Weapon 1, 2, & 3 - Directors Cut's
Leathal Weapon 1, 2, 3, & 4 - Regular Versions
Please tell me that someone has heard that they are addressing this grevious mistake . . .

These boxsets have been around for years. There is no mistake. LW 4 is an abomination to the greatness of the first three movies.

I in fact liked 4, just cause Jet Li is such a Bad A$$ in it.

The only solution you have is to get the DC box and 4 as a single. Also, I wouldn't worry about the covers match on the shelf because the 4th doesn't match up with either set of 3.

Definitely not. They all have their strengths and weaknesses...

Well, I have to contribute to the pseudo threadcrap: 4 is pretty bad. If I hadn't gotten it as a free promo four years ago, it wouldn't be in my collection. It makes sense to me that the first three have been released in their own box: they are all the director's cuts and they are the true Lethal Weapon legacy, if you will.

Well, all I'm saying is that it just doesn't seem right to stop making Director's Cut's 75% through the series . . . even if you don't think the movie is good. I mean LW4 is at least as entertaining as . . . say . . . the American Pie movies . . . and look how many special versions each one of those got! How hard would it be for them to come up with one more to round out the set.

The Aliens Quadrilogy is another perfect example . . . Alien and Aliens are the only movies worthy of any special editions, but they had the decency to beef up the entire set for the boxed release.

I feel so incomplete . . .

Well, gettin' off the semi-LW4 bashing, how bout this...

LW 1,2& 3 came out on DVD in '97 [according to Amazon.com].

Which, of course, was before DVDs became as popular/common as they are now [and "Special Features" were a lot less common]. Perhaps LW4 was considered complete, while the first three were lacking in features...

Then again, if it's the packaging that matters, there's always

If the question is "why is there no director's cut for LW4?", I have no idea. As far as the box sets go, I seem to remember that there was no price break for either of the sets - you can get them just as cheap if you buy them separately. Plus, you can sometimes find very good deals on the individual releases. I got LW1 DC from Columbia House, then got the other three when Wal-Mart had their Father's Day $7.50 sale (only downside is that LW2 non-DC is non-anamorphic).
