I do it as soon as i get home after buying them. Sometimes i'll find myself buying discs just so i can go and add them to my list. I know i bought the SE of the Howling today because i saw it mispriced at 4.88, so i thought to myself "Hey, my horror section could use a few more titles, i need to buy this".(turns out i loved it and am very happy i found it so cheap)But to be fair to myself usually if i see a horror film i've even heard of only once for under ten dollars, i'll go ahead and pick it up for the heck of it, whether i've seen it or not, i've done that since i started buying dvds. Sometimes i'll update a few days before i even get the dvds. I know today i added "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Fargo" Special Edition(which is actually a week and half away but i already have it paid for, so imo i already own it). Thats why i was so happy after finding Guzzlefish, i got to start all over again with adding close to 400 titles. It does backfire sometimes though, i added a few Mario Bava titles a few weeks ago, and i still haven't gotten around picking them up yet.

I update either right after getting the DVDs home or soon after. It keeps the date of purchase accurate (which helps with some threads around here ).

It's funny that I just saw this thread while I'm adding to my list. Gotta multi-task!

I used to update my list whenever I received a new shipment or picked something up at a B&M. However, when it got to be like 5 discs a day, every day, for about every week, I got tired of that real fast. Now, it's a weekly thing, and just another reason for me to look forward to Fridays!

I try to update the DVD Profiler file on my computer as soon as I buy a disc or order it on-line. I'm a bit more lax, however, in updating my DVD Profiler website file, which I only do once or twice a month.

Me too. I get most of mine on line and I enter them in my order list when I order them. It only takes a second to move them to owned.

Likewise.

I update every time I buy a new dvd or sell one on ebay because I have to remove it from the list and add it to the wishlist. I am selling most of my dvds for $$$ so I can catch up on TV. I am trying to get caught up with my television show collecting.

I can't imagine not updating after getting a new DVD/group of DVD's . . . I just don't get how I could keep them straight otherwise? The mere thought is terrifying. Oh, the humanity!

I own over 2400 discs you want me to go through them all daily, weekly?
How about since I have such a great memory, I buy as many as I please per day or weekly. My only problem is storage 5 cabinets holding about 240 each plus 3 doors with over the door hangers on both sides of 2 of the 3. The only one I can't put 2 over the door racks is the front door, there is no bathroom door either, my WC won't fit thru if the door wasn't taken off in 1999.

I know you guys don't like snappers, but one of these days they are going to be just about the only source of a 'inside' insert! IMO

No one wants you to do anything, they just want to know how often you update your profiler if you have one.

However, it's not a matter of entering 2400 at once (well it would be the first time). It's just a matter of adding the 1 or 2 or 10 you buy a particular day or week to your list.

I update when I get around to it. I used to be pretty good about updating, but now its about once a month if I'm lucky. Sometimes this leads to problems in my trade link as I'll get stuff to trade and it won't be on the list or its sold or traded and still up there. I'm surprised at the number of people who update right away....wow.

New DVDs have their own spot on the entertainment center. Once that stack gets too high, I log them on my Excel sheet, then file them on the rack.

So I chose when it hits 'X" number of DVDs.

Update in Profiler whenever I receive a DVD [bring it home, receive in the mail]. Upload to Profiler every time I update, because my PC is a piece of crap and I never know if it'll be working for me to access next time I want to. I am signed up with Guzzlefish and Aficionado, but I didn't want to 'start over' and I didn't like their interfaces as much.
Add to 'wish list' whenever I am near my computer and think of something else I want.
I'm anal that way--I like to update Quicken as soon as we get home from shopping, I like to go through the mail and throw out/organize it as soon as I get it, put the groceries away as soon as we get home, etc.
