Here's something I always wondered since I never saw the episodes when they originally aired--what was the opening like? You'll notice that most of the clips shown during the opening sequence come from Season 2 and on. There are some Season 1 clips, but not nearly as many as there are from other seasons. So does anyone know what it was like when these early episodes first aired?

I haven't gotten to Season 2 yet, but the Season 1 theme song just seemed a bit off to me. Same words, but something was off. Wasn't sure if my memory was serving me right or not.

LOL!

You sir, have made my night.

So the epsidoes are in order on the dvd?? I just finished Disc 1. From reruns I remember watching what I thought was the first episode. I remember Slater being new to the school and not being impressed with Zach. They both compete for Kelly's attention and they end up in detention at the end of the day. Zach is at the pencil sharpener talking to the audience kinda setting us up for the season to come. Am I wrong? Shouldn't that one be first?

Whoa! I have always wondered that too. I did notice on one episode on Disc 1 they had a different intro with clips of the characters from older episodes, but I'm pretty sure they were mixed with newer episodes clips as well. As for the theme song, it sounds exactly the same to me. Also, some of my ink came off from the sticker too.

Well, there are two different versions of the theme song. I usually skipped past the opening theme on the episodes I watched, but I first noticed the differences about halfway through disc two. It begins with a keyboard intro and has a different singer.

Thats weird. I'll definetly look out for that when I watch Disc 2. Thanks.

Yeah it's the first I'd seen that intro too.

And jmanin2, you really shouldn't watch the show in the airdate order, as it's presented in the set. Use a production order guide. Otherwise first day of school and Slater's arrival happens somewhere on Disc Three. Quite awkward.

I don't know how dumb they must've thought audiences were back then, but showing Slater's first appearance somewhere near the END of Season 1? Ridiculous.

They probably wanted to front-load the season and air the 'better' episodes first, to try to better entice viewers.

That could be true, although I don't think that the best of the best so to speak are truly represented on disc one. Besides, kinda stupid to go through almost an entire season and then "introduce" a character that had already been there for the entire season.

As for the opener, on The Substitute, they do use an opening full of nothing but old clips and I think that could very well be what was used originally, but the rest feature the common opening sequence.

What I'm hoping for is the next 2 seasons, then Saved by the Bell: Hawiian Style, The Wedding TV movie (whatever the hell it's called) and then the 18 (i think) episodes of the College Years

I'll take the next two seasons and the College Years, but I'll pass on the TV movie (both of them, actually). I don't care for either of them.

Yeah, I take it those were the original openings. Why we have a mix of the redone openings and the original (with the scenes just from the first few episodes)...I don't know. I don't mind, really, because it's better than getting all of them with the redone openings, the way it is on TBS (excluding Miss Bliss season). Although I've seen the original Miss Bliss opening and it's like any other '80s sitcom, so far from the rockin' SBTB opening.

Only the posts that have a pink border are dream/fantasy sequences.

Is anyone noticing some awful compression issues in the set? In "Screech's Birthday", for instance, there's a "No Running in the Hall" sign where the text seems to vibrate wildly, and in "Save the Max", there's a shot of the jukebox (and part of Zack's phone) that bursts into this blocky, multicolored MPEG mess. I've gotten the same effect in the same places on multiple DVD players, and there don't appear to be any problems with the disc as far as wear, scratches, etc. go.

I've noticed quality problems like that as well. There's also times where the picture looks like it could just be a VHS, a quick tracking line appears and disappers almost as fast as it showed up.

I posted an example of one of the more glaring flaws in a re view at http://dvdtalk.com/reviews/read.php?ID=7492

Very good review. I am disapointed in the abscence of extras, especially since a couple sites indicated that deleted scenes and a brief documentary were included.

I got my set home and noticed a pocket on the inside of the set, but there was nothing there, no booklet or any kind of insert. Sorry if this has been addressed, but is my set missing something that should have been there or did all of yours come without anything in that pocket too?

I finally got my set today (I ordered it from DDD a few weeks ago, when they were backordered). When I opened it, I thought of this thread. My set had the sticker on the shrinkwrap (not on the box itself). So I didn't have to peel off any of the paint on my box. Weird that mine was like that but it seems, from the posts in the beginning of this thread, that most of them have the sticker on the box itself.

Anyone know what order the episodes are really supposed to be in?
