DVD Read Problem

Hello:

I have a Panasonic DVD Player which I have had for about two years. I purchased two dvd's the other day. One is the new Animal House dvd and the other is National Lapoons Vacation 20th Aniversary edition. The Animal House one palys fine and the Vacation dvd says it cannot read the dvd. I returned it for anothe copy and still get the same error. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Try another player or computer DVD drive. If you don't have any of these try a friend's player. If it plays fine in other players but not yours I would think about shopping for a new player.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did try another dvd player and it works fine. I also tried a dvd reader which did not work. It seems odd that this is the only dvd that will not work in my player and why does it not work in the dvd reader I tried. Anyway I guess I'll start looking for another dvd player. I would appreciate any suggestions on one that plays single dvd's and has optical 5.1 connection. I could care less about any other bells and whistles. Also not interested in one that burns dvds.

If it's a panasonic RV-31 I'm having the same problems with certain discs. They all play fine in my newer Panasonic player. The player is just getting old.

My player is a Panasonic DVDA120U. I think you are probably right.

Thanks

My Panny A-112 start doing the same thing last year. It would refuse to read many newer DVDs. I never had a problem with Criterions, though. It gave me an excuse to buy a new one and move the older one to the kids tv.

I found that if you let it warm up for a couple of hours the problem sometimes clears itself. YMMV.

I also have this player and had gotten those Disc Read errors on a few discs. The last one was with the Criterion Time Bandits. I tired to exchange the disc but since it played on the DVD player in the store they wouldn't let me. Ended up getting a computer with a DVD player and everything plays fine in there.
