I was in Family Video tonight with some friends and I was digging around their PVed DVD's, and Narc caught my eye, since I've been wanting it but just didn't feel like shelling out 20 bucks. So now, I'm thinking of getting it, but I'm just wondering if it's possible to remove the typical stickers and such they place not only on the case, but on the disc itself. I think Goo-Gone would work for the case, but what about the DVD? Thanks.

It's very much possible. if it isnt, take it back and request another copy. say that the sticker effects playing or something. it's some work, but I have managed to get stickers off before with little to no problem.

Usually PVDVD's have a life long warrenty. so if it screws up in the process take it back for another copy.

The best sticker remover I have found is lighter fluid. I use it often and have never had a problem.

Those stickers on the discs suck balls... I refuse to buy previously viewed discs at all now just because of the possibility that they might have those.

The place where I buy the occasional PVDVD doesn't use stickers for their rentals. They carry a very wide selection of titles and it's a good source for used cult movies. Since I normally will buy an obscure title, the disc is in great shape.

Maybe there is a similar place close to where you live. The place I go to is 15-20 mins on the freeway but darn well worth the trip.

If it's $20 there, I would just go buy it new for the same price!

Where did you buy your PVDVD? I usually buy mines at Hollywood Video instead of Blockbuster coz their discs don't have any stickers on them. They sometimes have specials like Buy 2 for $20 or Buy 3 for $33. As for stickers and what-not on the Amaray case....if you can't get them off just go to Target or Walmart and buy replacement cases. I get my Amaray II cases from Walmart for less than 4 bucks for a box of 5.

Al Padrino & all in thread

Too bad you didn't check our DVDeXchange there are several Gold Traders including me that have this disc to trade. Plus there might be one on the GTList. I also use a different forumla than Goo Gone and on new to me discs plus Liquid Ivory Snow to get the goo off from the manufacturing process. I have been saying this for years all 'over' the internet! I wonder when they came up with 'their' formula? LOL

P.S. Unlike Goo Gone I don't use any Petrolium Distillates, I just use different essential oils one of which is Citrus siesis in english this is known as Sweet Orange. Expensive oils can be used like Cistrus aurantium var (variety) amara AKA Neroli. I have extensive knowledge on using Aromatherapy Essential Oils or
Aromachology which is perfumery (women) and (cologne) men.

All Blockbusters should have stopped the practice of putting stickers on the discs themself, its not SOP anymore. Of course we throw out the original amarays and use our crappy rental amarays when we sell them.

Ack, be careful when doing that. Too high a heat for too long can damage the disc.

I'm a big fan of CH too, but ...... they DO NOT carry all titles. I've been very pleased to find used DVDs of silent, foreign, classic and cult films that Columbia House has never offered.
