i'm also amazed that we can see characters spitting up blood on tv (alias, 24) and still get a tv-14 rating, but a bit of blood is R rated (I think McG did submit the scene to the mpaa, and got an R, but thats just my thought)

An article? Interview? anything to prove that this slight bit of blood might have pushed the boarders of PG-13?
This is not unlike what is common now a days. they add something to make it different and would have to resubmit for a typical rating but would much rather have a Unrated title on it so just don't submit it. The film was lacking in box office intake so this way, they can fool folks into thinking they are getting more "censored" material
then again, who cares what rating films get? the only time I pay attention to it is when folks start complaining about it.

Nowadays, filmmakers are planning the DVD almost as soon as conception on a project begins. Case in point, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" where producers have already gathered enough material for not one, but two DVDs to be released simultaneously.
"That's how we finally get our money back," jokes "Charlie's Angels" producer Nancy Juvonen.
One DVD will contain the theatrical PG-13 cut of the film, while the second will have a grittier version.
"I do have an unrated version," says McG. "The film was too crazy -- it was too sexual, it was too violent -- I had to back off."
But producer/star Drew Barrymore objects to the word "unrated."
"No, it's not unrated. Trust me, I would know," says Barrymore as co-star Cameron Diaz giggles and laughs, "Oh my God ... Wow, what did I do?"
"There's going to be some things on the DVD that we had to cut out of the ship's hull sequence because the action was actually too dark," Barrymore elaborates.
"There was blood, it's grittier. You don't see blood flying out of someone's mouth [anymore]," adds fellow Angel Lucy Liu.
"I don't like watching violence; I would much rather see more skin than violence," says Barrymore.
Producers are using two different companies to create the DVDs, which will also have an audio track by the actresses during a pajama party and a short adventure film with the "Charlie's Angles" dolls similar to the one on the "Rambo" DVD.
As of press time, there is no release date set for the DVDs. "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" opens in theaters nationwide on Friday, June 27.

I love how he says
"it was too sexual, it was too violent -- I had to back off.""
when in fact the only difference is that little amount of blood.
even funnier is how drew states
when all thise film really is just one big tease. show more skin, fine make it unrated and add the needed "unrated" nudity.
Ah, the wonders of marketing gimmicks.
sad really.. sad..

I thought it was lame to put 2 different covers for the widescreen and fullscreen editions. If I were to buy based only on the covers, I would have picked the cover for the fullscreen edition.

WalMart actually carded me on this purchase just due to the fact that I picked up the "Unrated" version (Im 27) . If I had to make the extra effort to show the cashier my ID, there better be a couple of extra booty shakes for my trouble
(hope my wife isnt reading this)

I guess I should take it as a compliment.
Seriously though, I'm glad they are enforceing age requirements . . . very responsible of them.

It's called MARKETING! The movie did horribly at the box office so to try and save face they decided to release an "unrated" version hoping people would buy it assuming that it ment exacatly what Mc G. is claiming it does....more sex and violence.
You buy it, the studio get the money, you watch it....nothing that differnt....your ass and your wallets ass is hurting.

wait wait wait.. they carded you? Why? If it is Unrated then how can they really set a limit on the age you need to be to buy it? I mean if it was rated and had something like NC-17, then hell you would have to be 17. but this is not that case since it wasn't even "rated" to a correct or set standard of age that you would have to be to buy it.
