knowing the money whores that KISS are, they'd definatly of bought the rights to Meets The Phantom and release it under their KISS dvd line or whatever they've got.

I noticed Amazon dosen't have it even listed. They usually are really good about things like before the movie comes out. They had Honey I Shrunk the Kids, UHF & The Sixth Man on there before there was even a release date.

Nothing official, but I heard a rumor Universal had put the kibosh on the MONSTER SQAD DVD until after VAN HELSING next year.

I thought columbia/tristar had the rights to this film.

That would be cool i'm so looking forward to Van Helsing and to get Monster Squad at the same time would rock.

You're confusing that with the rumor about Universal delaying re-releasing the Universal Classic Monster series for Van Helsing. Universal is unlikely to have any say in the release of The Monster Squad.

Whats up with this release? It's supposed to come out on Tuesday but I haven't heard anything about it. I was really looking for this.

I was JUST wondernig htat, because amazon, bestbuy, fye, NONE of those websites show it in their systems at all.

I think that the company that was releasing the dvd were being threatened with lawsuits because they didn't own the rights to the film.

Artisan *did* own the rights but only *recently* did those rights expire so they no longer have it (I've confirmed this myself directly from the company.)

So I have no idea which studio has it now. I'll keep looking into it.

I have no clue about which company released it, but there are copies (all seem to be P/S) floating around a certain online auction site (I'm not ganna name it because of the release probally not being legit)

Criterion bought the rights and will be releasing a 3-disc version, just like Brazil, early 2004.
