Halloween Extended Edition

If I bought the Extended edition, is there any value in picking up the one disc special edition as well (other than being a completist of course)? The only difference is that the extended version has the entire original movie, plus some extra footage shot for TV, correct?

The extended edition doesn't have any extras and only has the original mono soundtrack. The 1-disc SE has 5.1 and mono sound, and it has a documentary and trailers.

The additional scenes are fun to see if your a fan of the film, but in my opinion, they weakened the film. They are very extraneous and the original theatrical version is a stronger version.

I like the extended edition because that is what I saw when I was a kid. I was too young to see it in the theaters so my first time seeing it was on TV.

The extended scenes set up the sequels.

So if you're only interested in "Halloween" as a standalone film, the scenes don't add much, and in fact, leave dangling plot threads.

But if you're looking at it as the first part of a series, the extended TV scenes make it fit in with the sequels a bit more smoothly.

If you really really really really really have to have everything to do with Halloween, then yeah pick it up. If not I would just pass.
