So speaking of sales. . . .

I've always been on the fence over a couple of Troma films - I've enjoyed them from time o time, but I've never been a really huge fan. (I prefer my Bad Movies to take themselves a bit more seriously like a Roger Corman film or something from the MGM Midnight Movie range). However, a wallet breaking sale just might be the catalyist needed to drive me over the edge.

Does the magic 8-ball say anything in regards to the future in this matter?

Tell you what, Chris - I only live two blocks from Troma, with a post office located between us. Bet I could process orders for lower cost.

I'm sorry, but I've said all I can on this matter. Truth is, I have nothing to do with shipping, orders or how any of that is operated. I'm telling you what's been told to me, and it seems to make sense. If you have ideas or feedback on this issue, they'd really best be served by sending them to [email protected].

If you mean another 25 cent sale, sadly, no.

We do have sales all the time, though. Our current deals:

ALL Troma jewelry is 10% off!

Spend $75 or more on merchandise in the Troma Maul, and receive a Troma Binder for FREE!

Buy a Tox Box and get two select DVDs for FREE!

And yes, these offers can be combined!

Consider this: We sell many of our products below our cost during sales, yet the shipping fees are always the same. So, either we raise prices on our product and lower shipping or leave things unchanged. Either way, you're going to be paying the same, and like I demonstrated, by purchasing several items (especially during a sale, which there always is one) you ultimately save much more on Troma booty than you possibly could anywhere else. And trust me, we keep our Tromites quite busy. ;)

Plus, there are alternatives. See my earlier post on this topic, such as our stores at Amazon and Half.com.

Thanks! Keep it Tromatic... :D

Too bad I already own 70% or more of the Troma DVDs 8). I use halftroma works for me.

In regards to the shipping. . . .

To be fair, all Troma is doing is the equivalent of cutting off their head and standing on it to make themselves taller. It really doesn't matter if a disc is a dollar with 19 dollars shipping or the disc is 20 bucks with free shipping. The end result is still the same, it's just how you get there that's an issue.

It's an odd way of doing it to be sure - there's probably some behind the scene bookkeeping reason or something else we're not privy to.

Like I said, there are alternatives:

Our Amazon Store: http://www.amazon.com/shops/troma
Shipping: $3.00 for the first item, $1.50 for each additional item. Customers in New York State must add 8.25% sales tax to their order.

Our Half Store: http://half.ebay.com/shops/shops.jsp?seller_id=719600
DVD Shipping: $2.49 for the first item, $1.49 for each additional item.

:D

Yah I edited my message as you were replying. I use HalfTroma all the time. I do the sales when I want to order enough to make it equal out. I know the deal with the shipping and I use the Tromaville Maul when it works out better otherwise I use HalfTroma. I still preffer to deal directly with Troma than to go through Be$t Buy or the like.

Ok let's all climb off Chris's back about the shipping. He's showed you that if you are placing a big order during a sale then the Tromaville Maul can be way cheaper but if you are only picking up a few things then it might be best to go through Amazon or HalfTroma. What else can be said on the subject.

My only problem (which isn't really a problem) is that I've used the Maul a few too many times now I have most of their Troma DVD selections and a good number of the Roan discs as well.

Hi Chris, I had the privilege of being in a short film called The Tunnel with Lloyd a couple of years ago. I really didn't have an opportunity to talk with him then. Could you find out if he has any plans to make a Troma film in Texas? I would love to be in it if he does.

KTIK 08-05-03 03:21 PM

How well are your DVDs distrubuted? At Suncoast in the mall, I see Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD, Toxic Avenger 1, and not much else. At Best Buy, I see Toxic Avenger 2, Tox Box, Buttcracked, and Cannibal! The Musicial. Do the stores only carry the more popular titles of Troma or what?

Sorry, for in-house Troma films, we generally only shoot in NYC.

We're distributed now better than we ever have been. Two things. 1) Distributors only push certain titles, usually the most popular ones, or what they/we think will be the most popular, which leads to 2) Store chains decide what they want to stock based on that info.

Hey, I work like 10 blocks away from you guys. Is it possible to just walk over to Troma during business hours and buy some stuff from you guys with cash?

Troma Maul Experiences

Fellow Tromites,

In what can be called an effort to perhaps lighten the dark, black cloud that is over Troma's online mall from this community, I have started a thread for you to post your recent Troma Maul experiences.

Please, if you have ordered from the Troma Chopping Maul, our Amazon store or HalfTroma recently, share your experiences with the Troma Team and the DVDtalk community.

Remember, Toxie Loves You! :D

UncleCaveman 08-07-03 02:21 AM

I was thinking about buying sgt. kabukiman NYPD! Is this movie good? I love troma movies, and I saw the trailer for this. It's hard to think that I have never seen this movie, but i soon will! my local hollywood video carries lots of troma films, but they don't have this one.

AkMedic 08-07-03 02:04 PM

You all need a new on site Paramedic? I think it would be something killer for the resume.

I work for cheap....and if you can't pay me, put me in the movie:) I'm espically good at lesbian hot tub scenes, lol;)

Hey Chris - a question for you.

I was checking out a Troma review for Surf Nazis on . . . I think it was chud.com (tho I'm probably wrong on the where) and they mentioned that the disc was pan and scan (or at least that it was a full frame transfer). Now hell if I cant find a listing anywhere that details the aspect ratio on any Troma film. You wouldn't be able to point me towards such a listing - or at the very least give me all kinds of reassurances that "Yes, we would never do that to our films. We only present our schlock in the finest format possible!"

The DVD transfers for all of our discs are used from the best quality print of the film we have. In the dire situation that we don't have a decent 35mm print, then previous video transfers are used. And usually, if available, they are done with the director's input and supervision. Honestly, since Surf Nazis was one of the first discs released from Troma Team Video (back in '98), I have no idea which transfer was used. It could have been a pan-and-scan video transfer. *shrug*

I have it and I really like it. If you like the Toxie movies, I say give it a try! It's funny and gross, like a lot of Troma's output.

Of course, YMMV.

yup...Lloyd even comes here to the sticks. just picked up the newspaper and was thrilled to see that he will be speaking here this weekend during a film fest. after the speech...a screening of Citizen Toxie. he will also be teaching a master class on low-budget filmmaking on sat morning followed by Apocalypse Soon. hope I can get him to sign a few Toxie dvds including CT and maybe Terror Firmer. had to bump this up for excitement purposes since nothing good happens here very often-wink-. guess we will see just how many fans are hiding in the cracks. wonder if laserdogg will show up?:D

Gouge your eyes out first. Farts of Darkness is far and away a better look at Tromatic filmmaking. They must be showing a cut down version of AS, because the rambling disaster featured in the Citizen Toxie set never effing ends.
