Why is Daredevil's aspect ratio off?

How come the box says 2.35:1 and it is 1.85:1? This really pisses me off and its not the first time a big release has pulled this. How can the studio miss something so big?

Who cares what the box says as long as the movie is in it's proper ratio?

Funny as soon as I watched the movie I noticed it WAS 2.35:1 and then I decided to check imdb.com and it states that aspect ratio is indeed 2.35:1.

I believe the 2% rule may apply here.

Maybe your DVD player is in 16:9 mode.

The back of the non-Five Star Collection version of Speed listed it as 1:85:1 when it was/is indeed 2.35:1.

Oh, yeah, and Stir Of Echoes says it is "Fullscreen" on the back, but it is indeed 1:85:1. Too bad I already opened it and can't return it.

Although, it does say "16X9 Fullscreen", which could mean it would be fullscreen on a 16X9 TV, though I've never heard it referred to that way. It's usually either "Anamorphic Widescreen" or "Enhanced for 16X9".

2.35:1 all the way. The documentaries are 1.85:1.

Actaully before you hit the menu, you get the 20th century logo in 1:85:1 and then go to the menu

You made fun of my name so:

What the crap. You moron. If you want full-frame and don't want to worry about the potential of being upset that you purchased the widescreen version of a movie please sell your DVD player. I'm sure you will be just fine with VHS.

Yes, ctyler, your DVD player is setup incorrectly... The studio is not at fault here, you are. And, misprints have been known to happen in the past, such as the above referenced.

Someone lock this thread.

Cornelius prefers the pan and scan version of Ghostbusters.

Mine is 2.35:1 like in theatres (well 2.39.97:1 for those who want to get technical). But, like others said before, either you got a bootleg or your DVD player is set to 16:9 and you have a 4:3 TV.

You might want to switch the Folgers in your cup to decaf.

Hehe, good suggestion Major Joe. Sorry, it won't happen again Numanoid. Cornelius was not being sarcastic though. His comments in a recent thread and subsequent insulting me led me to my post.

In a much more polite way I restate:

Cornelius, it is obvious that you would be much better off viewing VHS tapes. Please consider not purchasing or accepting DVD's in the future as there is always the chance that you may accidentally purchase the widescreen version of a film or be given one as a present and be forced against your will to view it. Owning only hacked up VHS tapes will safeguard you against the horror that you feel watching a movie in its' OAR is.

A better question is, does ctyler ever respond to his own threads? I've never seen him make a follow-up post whenever he asks for advice.
