Looking very forward to the Mondo set. Now its gonna be 8 discs (!!!) (2 discs each for Africa Addio and Goodbye Uncle Tom and a disc with a new documentary on mondo films) so it won't be cheap (but worth it!)

Here's the specs for the Lee set from www.dvddrive-in.com
Three of the four movies in the box set will be available separately: the fourth, THE BLOODY JUDGE, is exclusive to the box set.
Two Fu Manchu films lead the set: Jess Franco's THE BLOOD OF FU MANCHU and THE CASTLE OF FU MANCHU. Both will be presented in 1.66:1 format with anamorphic enhancement, and both will feature interviews with the Director, Producer Harry Alan Towers, and stars Christopher Lee, Tsai Chin and, in the case of BLOOD... golden girl Shirley Eaton. The two discs will also boast stills and poster galleries, trailers, talent bios and liner notes by Video Watchdog magazine editor Tim Lucas.
The third film, John Moxley's 1966 movie CIRCUS OF FEAR will also be presented in 1.66:1 format with 16x9 enhancement, and will feature a commentary track with the director, trailers, and a stills and poster gallery.
Jess Franco's 1970 film THE BLOODY JUDGE is available only in the box set, which is limited to 7500 copies. The film will be presented in its original 2.35:1 widescreen ratio, with 16x9 enhancement. Extras include interviews with Franco and Lee, a deleted scene, alternate scenes, trailers, a TV spot, poster and stills galleries and Tim Lucas liner notes. All four films will be mastered from original vault elements.

Retail price for the three discs is $19.99 each, the box set will be $59.99 September the 30th

I'm looking forward to there Larry Cohen collection there putting out in August but the C.Lee and Mondo collection just don't appeal to me that much, but i'm glad there getting a dvd release. I think Bill Lustig is one of the most influential people when it comes to getting some rare films out on dvd. Elite Entertainment which was kinda the pioneers in releasing good versions of classic and modern classic horror, even owes a lot to this guy, since he was the first director to give the right to mutiple of his films to them for LD. i just hope he keeps it up.

Incidentally can't wait for Q The Winged Serpent as i never picked up the AB version despite it being on my wish list for some time.

Anyway i have to say i'll probably pick this boxset up..if it's 'quality' is anywhere near the 'Spaghetti Western' boxset in terms of presentation etc...then i know i'm in for a treat and with 7,500 copies it's not something i'm going to hang around deciding whether to pick it up or not.....i was getting a bit anxious as i waited over a week to get the 'Dead & Buried' and that's 50,000 copies.

Too bad about the Christopher Lee collection. "Bloody Judge" is really the only movie in that box I have any interest in owning.

I'm really disappointed that Blue Underground is carrying over all of that "limited edition" and "exclusive content" crap that Anchor Bay was pulling.

Blue Underground... The Criterion Collection of schlock.

I'm very pleased to see the films being treated like this.

I saw a trailer for the "Goodbye Uncle Tom" video and I have to say it is scathingly racist.

That's why I'm surprised that this film is actually seeing a US DVD release (after years of being available only in the form of poor quality bootleg videos). It shocked jaded Deuce grindhouse audiences when the film was originally shown in 1972 and US distributor Cannon quickly shelved the film and later denied having any prints of it. Is it racist and offensive? Yes, very much. Franco Prosperi and Gualtiero Jacopetti were never known for their restraint, good taste or political correctness. But the film doesn't deserve to be buried and I'm glad that people have the opportunity to judge the film themselves, no mean feat in these politically correct times.
