Versus
Anyone seen it out in the streets yet?
Checked Newbury Comics, Best Buy, Strawberries, Suncoast and Sam Goody's around the Framingham, MA area today .. no one, I mean no one has even acknowledged this disk's presence.

The 2-Disc edition got pushed back to August 19th, while the other two editions supposedly came out on time. I don't know the reasoning behind the delay but man, of all things to get pushed back...

I rented the DC from Netflix, I was shocked I got it so soon. Anyway, a friend of mine rented the R rated version from Blockbuster as well.
The R rated version is only Dolby Surround
The DC is Dolby 5.1 (Japanese)
Hopefully the 2 disc version will be in (dts) like I thought the single DC would be.
By the way, this was the first time I saw this movie. It rocks, Im getting the 2 disc on the 19th.

DVD Talk Hero
Media Blasters had a booth at the San Diego Comic-Con a couple weeks ago. They had some copies there, so I snagged one. Next time I checked the booth, a day or so later, all copies were gone.
The quality sure beats the VCD version

Versus is the best film I have seen this year!
its staggeringly good, everyone has to see it. My japanese dvd can now be relegated to the back of the pile, my new 2 dvd version will be far better, hope it is out when they say.

It is a flat out, NO PLOT, movie about Japanese guys killing lots of zombies with lots of guns & swords. It is very violent & very stylish. Simple as that. If that is not something that interests you then don't bother with the movie. IF that is is something you like then you are in for a wonderful treat. It's as simple as that.
And I believe the movie is over 2 years for whoever said it's the best movie they saw this year.

And yes, the movie was originally released in 2001 in Japan. Its a fun watch, and probably one of the better movies I've seen this year.

Yup I saw it on the 1st of January 2003, and no film has come close to this film yet. Its not exactly as simple as some people are making out, it has as much plot as many so called blockbusters this year, enuff to get you from a to b, ad it does it in style and with some stunning action scenes. Gunfights, unarmed combat and Samurai sword fights! what more can you want, simply a stunning film.
and I cannot wait for Versus 2 next year, and Versus 1.5 the same time with new footage and new beggining and end, cannot wait at all.

I read MrBob's post up above and said, "VERSUS at Blockbuster?? No Way!"
Well, sure enough, I went by there today and saw a lone copy sitting on the shelves that someone had already rented.
The bad news is that it's the "R" version (I haven't seen the movie, but after all the hype that I'm hearing about it, I'm sure that the R-version is hacked to pieces) I may rent it anyways because I've been dying to see it for quite some time now.

I just watched "Junk" and "Dead Or Alive" this week.
"Dead Or Alive" was no "Audition".
"Junk" looked like it was filmed with a video camera, and it was not as good as I had hoped.
How is "Versus" compared to these movies? Should I rent it? IS it that good that it is worth a blind buy?
