Not Going to Make the Same Mistake Twice...
I've decided that I'm not going to make the same mistake twice.
When BTTF went up on DDD, I placed my pre-order immediately. Well, we all know what happened shortly thereafter with that...
I felt the same tick in my mouse-finger while scrolling through DDD and spotting The Indy Trilogy up for pre-order. However, this time, I've decided to wait until everyone has gone through all of the discs and given them their seal of approval.
Anyone else have the same feeling as I do?

not really...because I dont really worry about that stuff. I'll deal with it when it happens....not before. 99% of the time I pre-order, everything comes out as expected. now stressing out over things like..will the disc still play after a year has gone by....I worry about that everytime I pull a dvd off the shelf.

BTTF = Back to the Future (box set - some problems on early editions of the discs)

this might be a little off topic but can you buy the corrected BTTF box set, or can you only buy the crappy version and then upgrade
I will probably buy it the week it comes out, hopefully there will be some deals

I'm not pre-ordering simply because I know this is a title that is going to be heavily discounted between it's release and the pre- and post Christmas season. IMHO it doesn't pay to pre-order the big hot releases because they are always available in quantity and at loss-leader prices at B&M stores in the week of release. (If ya snooze, ya lose though, because the prices go up in the second week of release.
BTW, less than four months to Black Friday!

I agree. I quit pre-ordering for the exact same reason.
I can always find a better price at Best Buy, Circuit City, Frys or Target.

Why wait? We STILL don't even have the BTTF corrected sets. Would you really want to wait a year from now to get the indy sets. Besides if something was wrong with such a big release as Indy, they'll do what BTTF did and do a replacement deal.

Just to echo what's been said here. Don't preorder. You're almost certainly going to find it cheaper at Best Buy, Circuit City or Target at the time of release. Furthermore, there MIGHT be some sort of exclusive add-on at BB or CC when it's released. But to worry about a potential problem with the DVDs? That's just silly. Paramount has a good record of not screwing up discs. And furthermore, the prime perp in that regards, Universal, has been great about fixing their problems; they have sent me both the replacement BTTF discs and the DTS ET disc proptly, free of charge and without hassel.
The studios that don't seem to own up to their mistakes are Disney (Tarzan screw-up) and MGM (Bond films, Never Say Never Again, Spinal Tap, etc)

I'm not going to preorder Indy either. Not because I don't want to get burned a la BTTF, but because I'll bet Best Buy will have a better price. In addition, there are just certain titles that I want in my hot little hands on release day, no dealing with the post office, just walk into the store and leave happy.

The BTTF problem wasn't NEAR a big enough problem to warrant so much paranoia. I mean, did some of you have like a scary experience getting your corrected disc? I sent mine in and got it back within 3 weeks.
If it happens again, it happens again. I want this so much I'm willing to take the chance - just as I did with BTTF.
That said, I don't pre-order anything. I enjoy going to the store, even though I might get slightly higher prices.

I'll be buying the Indy set on release day. If there is a problem (which seems highly unlikely to me), then I'll follow the process of correcting it.
