Plans for Fox Studio Classics 2004?

Anyone have any insight or news on the plans for this wonderful collection in 2004? Is the collection continuing? Possible Titles?

I have purchased all of the titles so far, and have received the limited edition of Sunrise. This collection is by far the most impressive set of classics to come out this year. IMHO. The quality is something to talk about.

Which title has been your favorite so far?
Mine would have to be Sunrise. My wife and I couldn't believe how good the movie and dvd actually were. I'm a silent movie lover, but she never was until this dvd. (Now she's loving the new Chaplin releases)
My Favorite Dvd you can purchase so far would have to be All About Eve. Just a perfect movie and great disc. A worthy upgrade.

What do any of you think?

I am a big fan of these as well! I own An Affair To Remember, All About Eve, The Day The Earth Stood Still, How Green Was My Valley, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, and have just mailed off for Sunrise and can't wait! I plan to purchase Gentleman's agreement and the remaining releases this year as well and can't wait for new ones to be announced.

As for my faovrite? I love All About Eve as well but I think my favorite is The Day The Earth Stood Still. The quality of the transfer just appeared astonishing to me and made me wonder why i had put up with my 12 year old recorded off television copy of the film this long. I'm glad I waited for the dvd though! I love the budget prices on these films as well.

I was very pleased to get Anastasia on DVD. That as well as All About Eve and The Day the Earth Stood still are my favorites thus far. I'm also highly anticipating Laura later this year.

As for next year's releases, I have heard nothing. I'm also not sure what was to become of the supposed Grapes of Wrath release planned for earlier this year.

I've bought them all, and I've watched all but the last two, Anastasia and The Song of Bernadette. My favorite is definitely All About Eve. To my surprise, I enjoyed An Affair to Remember a lot more than I thought I would. I haven't heard anything about 2004 releases, but I really hope they'll be continuing the series.

And on a nit-picking note:
Why did they have to take the DVD logo off the bottom of the spine, starting with #7? I love the way they look on the shelf together, but that always bugs me.

Sunrise is one of the greatest movies ever made, and the DVD is a worthy release. Nothing else in the collection comes close.

I wondered that as well Rob... Perhaps some sort of custom art with an exact copy of the existing art only with the dvd logo on the bottom of the spine added could be created for us obsessive people?

I also have been buying all of the Fox Movie Classics. Somehow I never noticed the absence of the DVD logo on the spine. I don't know how I missed it, but it's gonna bug me now. Thanks a lot!

I'm glad to hear the news on Grapes of Wrath. I wondered why the previous release was cancelled. I simply cannot wait for that one!

CLEOPATRA is a great dvd but why did they put the opening music to the second half of the movie at the end of the first disc and than begin part two on the second disc ? This is very sloppy and destroys its roadshow presentation. Has anyone else noticed this?

I've also enjoyed the Fox Movie Classics series. Good transfers with extras at a good price.

In 2004, I would love to see My Darling Clementine.

I have heard Costco carries most of these for $9.99. Can anyone confirm?

The only one I've seen at Costco for $9.99 was The Day the Earth Stood Still. And this was to promote their Sci-fi line along with Quest for fire and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

This sounds like good news that the collection will be continuing into 2004 at least!

I love love love this line. Most can be had for under $15, and the quality of the discs is amazing for the price. I really hope they keep the line going, as I'm buying them all as they come out. And given the low price, it's a lot easier to keep up with these than with the Criterions.

My favorite film AND disc in the series is 'All About Eve'. I'll add my voice to the chorus of "best screenplay ever."

Love all of the titles, Sunrise was going too high on ebay for me to open it.

Sunrise will be available in a 4-disc Best Picture Collection on 10/14 (SRP $49.98), along with All About Eve, Gentleman's Agreement and How Green Was My Valley.

I'm very glad to hear they'll be continuing this series next year.
Can't wait to hear what titles they'll be releasing.

Thanks Rob, I hadn't seen that yet.

I was just about to buy my mandatory three titles to send away for Sunrise, but now I think I'll wait for that box. Not the three I was going to get, but for the price and piece of mind of not having to deal with mail aways, it's worth it.

But I'll probably never be at enough peace to learn avoid dumb typos.
