Well, I guess it's my turn. Here's my little home theater. It's not much, but it'll do. Better late than never!

I've been wanting to paint the walls a different colour, maybe cranberry red or something like that, but the wife just won't have it. It's an ongoing battle, I tell ya.

I know I have a measly DVD collection. I had close to 200, but recently sold alot of them. I got into the habit of buying DVDs just "because", but never got around to watching them; and if I did, probably wouldn't have watched them a second time around. So, the ones you see on the higher shelf are my faves.

Sony STR-DA4ES receiver
JVC AV-56WP30 56" 16:9 RPTV
JVC XV-S500BK DVD player
Samsung SIR-T151 HD receiver
Mirage OM-C2 center
Mirage OM-6 fronts
Sound Dynamics RTS-1 surrounds

Edit: grammar correction

I hate to tell you but your wife is RIGHT!! There is nothing wrong with the color.

What you need to spice up the area is some nice curtains on the back and some nice furniture moduls perhaps from Ikea. I for example would suggest that you go for the Swedish hanging lamp (open up lower side) and some light cane. Or even some of the mini palm trees they sell (the kind that stay EXTREMELY clean). That will brng A LOT of new color (and vibe) to your place.

I'm glad to tell you, your wife is WRONG!! The color is all wrong for a home theater room. A nice matte burgundy or forest green on the walls, ceiling and a matching (not necessarily the same color, but at least non-white) carpet would substantially improve your viewing experience.

The reason is that all the white in your room will reflect the light coming from your television and reduce the perceived contrast of the images on the television. Using darker, matte paint will absorb the stray light and help to make sure that the only place light comes from is the screen.

After all, the point of a home theater is how it looks when the lights are off, not on. Even if your wife disagrees, it is not difficult to put together a good looking "dark" room. But I do have to agree with the PB on one thing - the curtains MUST go. Get your self some nice dark-colored velvet drapes to match whatever color you paint the walls.

I write to actors/actresses and put them together with a photo. Here is a closeup of one I did of all of the voice actors for the Batman:animated show:

Madcougar...

That's a giclee of the Crisis on Infinite Earths graphic novel cover. It's signed by George Perez and Alex Ross. Here's a link to the entire cover:

Gah, I'm insanely jealous of those DBZ boxed sets... they look a hell of a lot nicer than my plethora of amarays taking up nearly 2 whole racks.

Well I just upgraded all of my speakers. I now have seven B&W 600 Series 3 loudspeakers and another Velodyne sub (HGS-15 15" Servo). Here's a few pics of my setup, but feel free to go to my link in my sig for more and details of my setup.

Isn't it about time to lock this thread and start a new one? I didn't think the mods let them get this long.

Long threads are no longer an issue with the current software:

You wouldn't believe how loud and crystal clear it is
If anyone lives in southeast Michigan, I would love to give some demos.

Well, I can personally say that Steebo's system is quite impressive. Quite a nice balance, even though you'd think the subwoofer would overcome everything, he has it tuned quite well.

As for the Richter scale, I say it's a solid 7. The only reason I don't give it an 8 or higher is because according to this site,an 8 involves "loss of life over several 100's of km." As far as I know his system hasn't caused any deaths yet, so sorry Steebo, can't rate you higher.

The best part of the system? The hilarious faces people make just after listening to a demo session. For example, here is Steebo himself after one such session:

The face says it all! Being his cousin, I made a near identical face, so no need to post that one.

well I just finished the new dvd shelf so thought i'd finallly share here....the shelf is phase one of a new entertainment center. Phase two is a book shelf of identical dimensions but fewer shelves to accomodate larger stuff like books and pictures and stuff....phase three will be in between the two and has yet to be fully designed....i'm weighing a few designe options still, but that won't happen for a couple of months yet. phase four will be a mantel that will run above the tv between the shelves for more knick knack pics and stuff (gotta appease the wife ). The tv is a 27" Wega flatscreen....the speakers are Wharfdales, and I could not be happier with them - they are the smallest, but best, speakers i've ever owned.....
