Went to Wal-Mart to pick up Gangs of New York ($14.52 sweet) and The Love Bug SE ($14.44 extra sweet) and was considering getting There's Something About Mary. 20 copies on the shelves, NO WIDESCREEN!!

Usually, Wal-Mart (at least the one I usually go to (Frederick, MD)) got equal amounts of WS and FS. According to the clerk, they are moving to mostly FS, and only carrying WS if there is no other edition released.

That really stinks. The "No Black Bars" stickers certainly didn't help turn people on to widescreen!

The stores are different. Just because the W-M in your area is doing that, that doesn't mean that all W-M's will. Just politely inform them that they won't get your business.

They do have a healthy selection of discounted DVD's...the past month I picked up "Casualties of War" for 7.99 and "Long Kiss Goodnight" for 5.88.

I wouldn't expect Wal-Mart to carry it at all because how G rated everything is there. I got it yesterday at Best Buy for $19.99, not too bad especially since I never got the old version on DVD.

I'm ordering alot of stuff online now (3am in the morning, every online store is open), but I like the deep price cuts WalMart gives on new releases. Got Spiderman for $11.99 and Star Wars Ep 2 for $9.99.

I know the Walmart I requent has carried many WS versions of films recently (i.e. The Hours, Nemesis, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, etc...) however they also did not have WS version of There's Something about Mary.

The only time I don't remember tham having the WS version was with Old School, although I thought that might be because it was "unrated".

Neither my Bestbuy or Wally World had a WS copy of this so I ended up getting it at Target (worked out well - the cashier used the coupon for $5 off when you buy it and another dvd, but I only bought Mary = total $14.99!)

My Best Buy didnt have any widescreen copies (first time thats ever happened) & my Circuit City barely had any either.

I noticed that FutureShop is selling the FS for $1 more online than the WS...strange...

Meanwhile, my local walmart usually has about 75% FS, with 25% being WS...

One of my local Wal-marts only sells FS (when both are available separately). What's odd is, they also sell 2 different models of widescreen television.

My Wal-Mart also only has TSAM in fullscreen. Wal-Mart is the only place in my town that sells DVDs so this is not good news. While I admitedly don't buy many new releases at Wal-Mart (I'd rather drive 30 miles to Best Buy every Tues.), I do pick up a lot of catalog titles there. If they move to a full-screen-whenever-possible market I'm screwed.

Even my local K-Mart has both versions, although there is more FS than WS.

I went to the Target in San Jose, CA and as of Tuesday they did not have the SE edition of Something About Mary so I went to Circuit City and bought a 19.99 WS copy there.
