Widescreen B/W The Absent-Minded Professor

Thanks Disney for listening to film enthusiasts and rereleasing The Absent-Minded Professor in black & white/anamorphic widescreen. I'm buying two! (One will be a Christmas present for the kids.)

BTW, I read this information on the HTF. I'm guilty of lurking. Also, Amaz*n.com has an order option.

It's up for preorder at Amazon with a release date of 9/2

I can't believe I'm saying this but Disney actually listened to us.

Yeah, sure they did. There's some other motive behind releasing this, but it sure wasn't listening to fans. But I'm still happy!

I wrote Disney to complain about the colorized pan & scan version when they released it, so I guess the right thing to do now would be to write and thank them for this rereleaeing it right.

I would encourage others to do the same.

I don't really care WHY Disney is redoing this movie correctly. I was so disappointed when they released the full-screen, colorized version that there was no way I would break down and buy it. But doing it in B&W, widescreen?? I'm there!! Woo!

This sounds almost too good to be true!

I wrote Disney and tore them a new one with the previous release of this.

I have to buy it now, and I would have anyway.

B&W OAR, will this version outsell the previous release? Hope so, but not counting on it.

Now, just need to get The Love Bug SE (finally found it at the local Wal-Mart)

I called 'em after I recieved my copies of Gus, Apple Dumpling Gang, the Computer Wore Tennis Shoes & Absent-Minded.

I [calmly & respectfully] had a conversation with the operator. Told her I was disappointed that they had released these movies fool frame [& AMP colourized]. She had me hold on while she checked to see if they were available or going to be available widescreen [I humoured her..] She said it didn't look like it. She asked me if I wanted to return the copies that I had. I told her I didn't. She said my name was in their system, so I asked her if she could put a note or something in there that stating that I was displeased with the fool frame/colourized versions and if they ever released the way they were made, that it would be alright to "trade up"...

So, we'll see what happens..

The Digital Bits today...

It's interesting that The Digital Bits is finally reporting this news! I've always respected their reporting, but my gosh isn't this a "bit" late?

I bought it!

Well, I bought this title, watched it last night and must say, "hurray!" My TV is a Sony Trinitron and from what I saw, the movie looks like it has undergone some type of restoration! Wow!

Can anyone comment of the extras? Or lack of extras? I'm considering picking up a copy.

Anamorphic...

There is only a trailer on the DVD. However, there is a nice paper chapter insert. Which is a pleasant surprise these days!

Yes...you must think of them as if they were a dog. Punish them when they are bad, but reward them when they are good. Otherwise, they will see no reason or reward for being good in the future.

Flubber...

I wonder when Son of Flubber will be released. Hopefully we'll get OAR.
