If you opted for the free shipping, what are you expecting? If you order from DVD Planet they usually ship pre-orders on Friday, in which case you will get your dvd on release day (Tuesday). Although I have had some show up on Monday before.

DDD has notoriously slow shipping. Especially with the free shipping option. If it's worth the wait for you, buying it cheaper is the way to go. Some people can't stand the wait though and opt to pay for shipping or go to a brick-and-mortar to have the film in-hand on release day.

I haven't even gotten the shipment notice e-mail from them yet. Just the original order confirmation. No biggie though. I can wait.

Not really much of a problem, media mail takes time. Go watch something else in the meantime.

Mine shipped Tues. Normally (at least my experience) when you pre-order, it would arrive a day or so after release date, so this one shipped later than normal. Ohwell. More time to contemplate how I'm gonna take it out of the metal sleeve w/o damage.

DDD...great prices but with the free shipping it is much slower. im one of those that can wait for the most part. if its something i cant wait for i go to dvd bargains and look where its cheapest, then i make a run to best buy, target, or whatever. i'll be swinging by target tomorrow for this one.

NEVER USE FREE SHIPPING AT DDD. It'll take you another week or 2.

It does not take another "week or two", it takes another 3-4 days.

I think they're using Standard Shipping, not Media Mail now. And mine hasn't shipped yet either.

I usually upgrade to priority mail when I shop there, but this time, I figured I could wait the 30 or so days it takes standard mail to get to Hawaii. And the shipping time is very location dependent...the farther you are from the warehouse, the longer it is likely to take to arrive.

The funny thing is, I also ordered the new release of Midnight Run that streeted on the same day, and that shipped yesterday. Hope it comes soon.

Wait a minute ......

Earlier today you said "Mine shipped on tue.".

Then a few minutes later you said " Just got it today! (its a heavy sucker.)"

So if you got it today, which is 2 days after street date, what's the basis for saying "It'll take you another week or 2." ????

I used regular 4.95 shipping. If you use free shipping, it would take you another week or 2.

In my experience it will only take another few days (3 or 4). And, honestly, I'm not in a situation where I need to watch T2 (for the 800th time) in the next day or two. Waiting a bit and saving a few bucks on shipping sounds worth it to me.

I wouldn't use DDD for a title that I absolutely *had* to have on the release day. But I rarely encounter such a title.

From their site:

Standard Delivery - FREE

The default method of shipping at DeepDiscountDVD is USPS Standard Delivery at NO CHARGE.

Standard delivery takes 5 to 12 business days for delivery.

As bboisvert said, it's not every DVD release that MUST be in my hands on release day - in fact waiting a week or so for most DVDs is no big deal...... they are very up front about the expected delivery time, and in general I find that I get my DVDs within a perfectly acceptable time frame.

It also depends on when the shipments arrive at the DDD warehouse. Some titles come in early, some don't arrive until the very release date. Obviously the former can be shipped early, while the latter can't.

With regards to T2 EE not shipping yet, mine also has not shipped yet as of today so I called them up and cancelled the order and will be picking a copy up at Target tonight for the same amount of money.

With regards to DDD shipping in general. They have been GREAT as of late imo. I've been using the free shipping method on pre-releases and they have been shipping it out a week in advance so it arives on release day...all for free! I dont know what happened with T2EE, but I have been mucho impressed with DDD as of late!

DDD service is not as good as it used to be. Sometimes, they don't answer e-mails; when they do, it's usually 5-7 days later.

I have been ordering from them the last couple of years - They are not shipping orders as fast as they used to. They are taking at least 2-4 days longer.

I stopped ordering from them...now I just drive over to their store. Free shipping, and instant delivery.

I wish I had the same luck as you two. I stopped ordering from them as 'free shipping' would take 2, sometimes even 3 weeks. I suspect that it's not the actual transit time causing delays like that, but that DDD doesn't always send when they say they do.

Ever since they switched from Media Mail to Standard, I've gotten my stuff in less than a week (compared to 1-2 weeks with MM.)
