THE OMEGA MAN on DVD - 8/5/2003. For real?
I just noticed today, that AMAZON.COM has changed their listing for the OMEGA MAN DVD, and has listed a release date of august 5th.
Great news, if this is true. However, we've seen a date posted and then cancelled before.
Anyone heard anything?

Define good. August is unbelievably crammed with discs I'm interested in, as a fan of classic horror and foreign films and of classic films in general. Here's my to-buy list, which is by no means a complete list of all the great stuff coming out...
The Lower Depths (Criterion) – 8/19
Bergman Faith Trilogy (Criterion) – 8/19
Casablanca – 8/5
Targets – 8/12
The Thing (50th Anniversary) – 8/5
The Haunting – 8/5
The Omega Man – 8/5
House of Wax/Mystery of the Wax Museum - 8/5
Duel (SE) - 8/12
Wait Until Dark – 8/5
The Devil Commands – 8/26
Comedy of Terrors/The Raven – 8/26
Haunted Palace/Tower of London – 8/26
Tomb of Ligeia/Evening with Edgar Allan Poe - 8/26
The Ghoul (70th Anniversary) – 8/26

I won't hold my breath for Omega Man or Soylent Green, both have been attached to release dates in the past and Amazon has taken preorders for them. Should they actually be released this time though, I'm all over it. I've been waiting for these movies since I first bought a DVD player.

DDD has it up for preorder as well and I've already put mine in. This is one of those Holy Grail titles for me as well so if it IS released in August, it's mine

Here's the cover,

I think they did a better job on the VHS:
.
The Soylent green cover is much better, Although Heston's head seems slighty out of proportion:

I looked at a couple of sites, Dvdplanet and Dvdempire, and see both say NO or have nothing listed for special features. I remember way back when the first release (P&S) was postponed. Then a new release for a WS version but then again postponed and I'am very sure it said a documentary was with that. Now just a bare bones disc!!! I will still pick The Omega Man up sometime if I find it at a good price but I have not seen one yet.

Charleton Heston has his own home theater some miles from his house, only problem there is only film, that he knows all the words by heart.
P.S. Personally in another film releasing I just love the 'furniture' that comes together, with the buildings male tenant.

.I prefer the DVD covers, they're cheesy, but the movies are kind of cheesy (in a good way).
