Low price but great transfer?
Let me start this by saying I searched every combo of "best" "cheap" "anamorphic" and "transfer" and didn't find a thread, but just lmk if there is one.
As I'm planning my large screen purchase I thought it would be good to have a list of low priced discs with a great anamorphic transfer.
For example, I picked up Kelly's Heroes at Walmart for $7.50 and was very pleased at the quality.
Is there a list of DVDs that are generally available in the $10 or less world that are worth picking up because they look so darn good on a large wide screen TV?
Or more likely, any suggestions?
Thanks

top of the list, imo, would be
Quest For Fire.
it looks amazing on my screen (projected about 80" wide). better looking than several superbits i've seen
Flight Of The Phoenix (out 6/03) is also a remarkable looking disc
several of MGMs midnight movies are also just about beyond reproach as far as a/v quality goes-
Planet Of The Vampires, although it is unfortunately non-anamorphic is still fine looking disc with truly eye popping colors.
The Abominable Dr Phibes is excellant and anamorphic
for the $8 i paid at BB, i really like Peter Weirs Green Card.
very film like image and excellant audio

UHF is good for about $10. I got it free cause I had a $10 gift card I got from completing a survey
Other good cheap ones are The Alamo, Ghostbusters, Supergirl, Suburban Commando, Mr. Nanny.

Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Stargate UE (kinda the high end of cheap at $15, but absolutely gorgeous and DTS!)
The Money Pit (cheap, hilarious, gorgeous anamorphic, and DTS!)
