woah - what surprises me though is that it's at 38% fresh on rottentomatoes! 38% percent of critics actually gave this a proverbial thumbs up!?!? Holy crap... that's almost the same as the new Al Brooks comedy - The In-Laws (41%)!

The Real Cancun was actually a pretty good movie. It's just that no one saw it.... and those who did were expecting a T&Afest... when in fact that movie is more about evolving relationships.

Actually, PD's correct, if a little exagerated. It's apparently more like a long episode of "The Real World", and it looks like it was grossly mismarketed.
I have not seen it, so I cannot comment.

In some countries in Asia, you can purchase the DVD while the movie is playing in theaters. Sometimes the DVD is out even before the theatrical run! But they aren't sold in the theaters themselves, you have to buy them off the streets or in some media malls.

My theory on its poor box office performance was the entire target audience probably downloaded it!
I passed on it theatrically because I assumed there'd be a DVD with an extra hour of uncensored footage within 3 months so why pay $10 to see the Jack Valenti-approved version just once? Unfortunately, looks like there's nothing extra on the DVD.

Actually, The New Guy:
Theatrically Released: May 10th, 2002
Then, I saw it on the shelves at Blockbuster around July or August last year. I can't find an exact date, but that's the quickest one I can think of.
