The first one that came to mind: FROM THE EARTH TO THE MOON - the stunning 10-part HBO series.

Definitely Band of Brothers!!! Without a doubt the BEST set I own. The story is great, special effects are first rate, and as far as DVD extras go, this one takes the cake!

I know of at least 3 people that have borrowed my set, and after watching it, have went out and bought it.

I eliminated shows with multiple seasons. For something like Star Trek: TNG, there's no need to tell you to go get seven seasons of it - you either know about it and will, or don't like it and won't. I assume. I could be wrong.

So that leaves me recommending:

Band Of Brothers - best miniseries I've ever seen
Sports Night - hilarious (and eminently quotable)
My So-Called Life - one of the smartest written shows I've seen

The choice is simple: Doctor Who.

The discs are totally remastered and look and sound absolutely GORGEOUS! An impressive feat considering that the broadcast masters were all destroyed by the BBC back in the early 70's.

Now of course everyone throws around 'digitaly remastered" so much these days as a marketing ploy that the term is meaningless - but not so here. Roll your mouse over this picture (scroll down a bit) or this picture

The discs are loaded with extras, commentary, missing scenes, trailers, documentaries and easter eggs. Oh - and the show is a damn fine series too - I mean it did last 26 years after all.

If you want to see how the definitive way that a TV show should be released, this is the way to go.

I haven't seen the Transformers, Monty Python's Flying Circus, or Cheers sets mentioned yet, which I recommend.

Also, another vote for Buffy, Band of Brothers, Sports Night, and Mr. Show.

Another vote for:

Band of Brothers
From The Earth To The Moon

Also, I'll second the James Bond Collection sets. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts with those.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Black Adder or Babylon 5 yet.
