Generally I hate war movies, but surprisingly I love Band of Brothers. I thought it would be the same as SPR, but it is just different. It hooked me up all the way through. Love the characters, love the story, love the scores. The tin packaging is nice, the extras are great .. especially the Ron Livingston's Video Diary.
Highly recommended. (Now I am thinking to have it in my collection too)

Coupling
The show that Friends tried to be. Great replay value... flip to a random part of a random episode and I can't stop watching until the end.
Babylon 5
Probably the best constructed multiseason story arcs in sci-fi.
I, Claudius
One of PBS's finest moments--a totally captivating view of the Roman Empire.
The Sopranos
It could've been called Godfather: The Series. An offer you can't refuse.
And I won't be complete until I can get the full NEW Outer Limits series on DVD. Traditional cheesy sci-fi, but these shows were never a disappointment--very satisfying brain candy.

I edited my first post. Thought I could try turning this thread into an ongoing highlight of what's available for tv/misc on dvd and most wanted titles.
The bold titles are currently a work in progress and relatively arbitrary and subjective.
Lastly, I shied away from movie collections in favor of focusing on titles that aren't movie related, minus a handful of exceptions.
Eventually we can come up with a different subject title and ask a mod to change it if need be.

Although I own more then would recommend, I rewatch:
Twilight Zone
NYPD Blue
Cheers
ER
Married with Children
Threes Company
Johnny Carson: The Ultimate Collection (Tonight Show)
I own, but do not re-watch:
Anna Nicole Show
Larry Sanders
Clerks
My Big Fat Greek Life
Law & Order
I would like to pick up King of Queens eventually. There are several on my "want to be released list" (Sledge Hammer, Night Court, Family Ties, Growing Pains, Small Wonder) but that could take forever.

Wasn't the British series ROBIN OF SHERWOOD supposed to be released on R1 DVD?
I also think "essential" for me (because I grow weary of watching old worn-out VHS tapes) would include...
COVINGTON CROSS
WIZARDS AND WARRIORS
CROSSBOW: THE LEGEND OF WILLIAM TELL
SUPERBOY
BEAUTY & THE BEAST
KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER
WONDER WOMAN
BIONIC WOMAN
SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN
Oh, okay, I'll stop here and just say...most of the retro programming on the SCI-FI CHANNEL!
