History Channel DVDs
Have any of you bought DVD's from the history channel. They have quite a few items I was considering. But wanted to know what the quality of the product was like.
They have "World War II Great Escapes" for $15. It's four 50 minute episodes, and I thought that was a pretty good deal.

From: I have always been here.
I have 'Mummies and the Wonders of Ancient Eqypt' and another that I can't remember right now. I got them at Best Buy for $10 each. I just can't stand commercials and can never get to see the entire shows because they come in segments. With the DVD I can see what I want and when and not miss anything. I can't wait for the special on reptiles to be out on DVD.

I have reviewed two History Channel releases so far (Teddy Roosevelt: An American Lion and Ellis Island), and both were excellent. You can have a look if you like here and here.
Their audio is normally fine (DD 2.0); their video often suffers from graininess / edge enhancement, but I have not found it to be overly distracting (Ellis was far worse than Teddy Roosevelt). The quality of the work tends to supersede the technical imperfections, but I do wish they would pay more attention...

I have Founding Brothers & Founding Fathers. No extras, DD 2.0 and A/V quality isn't bad at all. They're usually reasonably priced, so if the material interests you, they're not a bad buy at all. I'm happy with both of my sets and look forward to more.

History of Britain is well worth the money - especially if it's only $53 at DDD.
This is why I think so:

I was considering buying The Men who Killed Kennedy which IMO is a great 6 part series covering all scenerios of the Kennedy assassination.
I haven't gotten around to looking into it further but I really might have to just go ahead and buy it (if it's still available)

Ordered that set myself yesterday. Showed up in my golden box thingy on amazon for the 'amazing price' of $80+. Checked dvdpricesearch and was $30 cheaper at deepdiscountdvd. Couldn't believe the price difference, you think Amazon would get a price cut for sheer volume....or perhaps they just have a much higher margin.
