Wendigo worth a blind purchase?
I've got this in my netflix queue, but was wondering at the price (about $7) if this was worth a blind buy? I've heard both good and bad, but it's imdb.com rating is AWFUL!
I'm re organizing my queue now based on things that i really might buy if i enjoy them enoguh, but for something at $7 if enough people say its worth a blind buy, i might as well delete it and save me a rental no?

I was wondering about this too. One of my girlfriend's coworkers highly recommended the director's (Larry Fessenden) other movie, Habit. We rented it, watched it, hated it, dismissed it as crapola. Of course, it was a small-budget movie (which I normally like), but the star was the director--and he has no charisma, no acting ability, has a missing front tooth, etc. Habit is boring and forgettable.
However, Wendigo (IMDB-linked for the lazy) looks like it has a lot better production values and at least some "names" (Patricia Clarkson and the kid from "Malcolm in the Middle"). Looking through the reviews on IMDB, it seems that Wendigo may suffer from some of the same problems that Habit has: boring scenes, too much dialogue, uneven editing (effecting pacing), etc.
Unless I hear something very convincing, I'm going to rent this first.

I thought it was pretty good, but not great. Glad I bought it.
Very creepy atmosphere, some tense scenes, and the kid actually isn't annoying. On the down side, they should've left the Wendigo unseen, but it's very brief and certainly doesn't ruin the movie or anything.

I saw it in the theater... and thought it was friggin' horrible. The only thing I liked was the lighting. The rest bored me to tears, made me edgy and wanting to leave - MTv editing, patented Blair Witch shaky-cam, mandatory Matrix revolving money-shot, bad actors, bad script, bad monster... bad bad movie.
Don't be fooled... this is no indie masterpiece. Definitely not a good blind buy - absolutely rent first.
